I'm hopelessly addicted..

It happened with:

Elder Scrolls I: Arena in '94
Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall in '96
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in '02 (when I had time)

See a pattern?

I'm completely addicted as well. I'm 31 hours into the game and I still can't stop. I've also gotten 2 guys from work addicted too. Hands down one of the best games I've ever played

Cool, thanks! I think I am level 3 right now.

What level do I have to be to close the Oblivion gate for the first time?

I did it as a Level 1

Though it was really tough.. I'd recommend being at least a leve 3.

Oh and you do have a difficulty slider under the Gameplay menu

levling up quicker is not always a good idea...the monsters and enemies in the game are based on your level, so the higher you go, the higher they go

take your time, build your other misc. skills, and try to get +5 points in all the skills you care about, at each level

Some certain ruins east of Chedyinhal (spelling) have some serious loot that gets replenished each week

First, look for a tree that is hollow and has what looks like a sewer cover.

Look for 10 poisoned apples in a barrel (you'll need to be a damn good lockpicker or have a good spell) Sell these apples and make about 1500 gold per week.

I just took martin to the cloud ruined temple, and joined the blades. (I cant talk to any soldiers because they want to arrest me for stealing...)

Anyways, i did not help the original knights @ the church regain the castle, i found this more important.

I need to go to the Imperial City to gain info on recapturing the Amulet of kings.

So much to do..... Any advice thus far?

paladin character here (some magic and some heavy combat)

I had an archer character up to level 18, but after I beat the dark brother quests, nothing else seemed to compare, so I started over

For anyone with a PC and an ATI card, download the new 6.4 drivers.. they are optimized for Oblivion and I noticed a solid improvement on my machine.

i closed the first gate and did a bunch of fighters guild quests so far, but im only level 3 and dont really have enough money to skill up. i think im going to be a thief in armor =p

if you have a bounty on you (i killed a legion guard because his armor looked nice) do you get aggrod by guards automatically

the loading screen tips also say that restoration trainers are in the chapels and churches, but ive been to all of them and cant find anybody to train me =p im gonna have to cheat and use that link i think one thing that could have been cooler would be a greater selection of items with different stats like in d2 or wow

I d/l'd this game and after playing this w/e I love this shit! Haven't played an rpg since Diablo 2...and this is really a nice step up.

I just started and went over to Cheydenoil (sp) before going on my first quest. I've joined the Fighter's Guild to make some money. How long should I work those contracts? I wanna join the Dark Brotherhood now...is it better money?

Fences are people in the Thieves Guild who will buy your stolen goods.

I just checked when I saved and I'm now over 60 hours into this game. This is probably the most hours I've ever played a single player game in my life.

Finally bought this game a couple weeks back and it is definetely a great game. I am not quite attached to my main character or engrossed in the storylines like I was in Morrowind or Baldur's Gate but it is still great nonetheless. The thing I am missing from morrowind is enchanting my own items (unless this is possible later in the game). I had so much fun creating capes of levitation or ebony armor that would protect you from everything. The soul gems now just recharge items instead of enhancing them with magical properties.

The best part about Oblivion so far is the combat mode, much more realistic now with blocking and the instant travel is a godsend. I don't remember complaining too much about travel in morrowind but now looking back I remember how much wandering I had to do to get anywhere. The active quuests with arrows telling you where the people or places are I dont know how I did without in Morrowind, I've been finding they are so essential.

i'm now a member of the dark brotherhood...

i came across some guy who wanted fish scales from some deadly fish... he told me he had a large savings... i asked him where his savings was, bribed him, persuaded him, but he still wouldnt tell me... so i killed him, needless to say i dont know where his savings are, but maybe i can find them.... also there was a witness, so she obviously had to die....

once again i am a fugitive.. my bail is @ 1000 gold.... and i only got 3000, :ghey:

You can definitely enchant items. You use the Sigil stones from the Oblivion gates to enchant weapons or armor
