Darth Vader, Yoda, Soul Calibur IV. Has the world gone mad? YES! (w/video!)
I'm guessing that you've by now seen our official reveal of the new characters in Soul Calibur IV (click the link for all the screenshots) which, when they went up on our site brought in so much traffic it actually took us down momentarily, but yeah, it's for real.
The press materials state that Darth Vader will be exclusive to the PS3 version (lucky!), and Yoda will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 version (WTF?). Still don't know if any other characters will be made available, but probably. At least we're not getting sloppy seconds from the Tekken series, though. Ganryu as an unlockable character exclusive to the ASCII text adventure!? No thanks. Oh, here's the video. It's awesome.

Personally, I think this is cause for celebration. You can probably bet money that this won't be another Masters of the Teras Kasi, and if you don't like this kind of thing, well, just don't play as the characters. It's pretty simple. For people who do like EXTRA STUFF, I can't wait to see what the match-ups are like. We can probably gather that Xbox 360 owners and PS3 owners won't be able to match up online though. Because then the character data would have to be on each version's disc, but with Darth locked to 360 players and vice versa with Yoda. There's no practical reason to do that, so don't expect it.
It would actually be cool, however, if Namco did that. Think about it. "Oh, you're one of those PS3-ownin' losers, huh, Mr. Vader?" Taste my Yoda, bitch!" Be honest, you can totally see that happening. I'm just looking forward to seeing what the moves are like, especially the Force and Dark Side moves. Will they have James Earl Jones and Frank Oz's voice samples? We'll see. There's a lot to get right with this sort of thing, so let's hope Namco nails it. Cutscenes, grand entrances, sound-effects, etc. And for those of you wondering how a light saber couldn't just slice through Taki's sais, well, they're magical sais. Don't forget that.

I'm surprised that the story mode is so short. That was always a big point in the previous games.
Can't wait to play this, but it might take me a few more months to pick it up since I'm having so much fun with MGS4.

I saw the sales guy in MicroCenter playing it today. It looks great graphically, but I wasn't too blown away by it. Sophia has some huge ( Y ) though. 
I will definetely try to rent it...that's if Blockbuster EVER has anything worth playing in stock. I've been trying every day for the past two weeks for one game I want to try, but they NEVER have it!

Finally got a chance to rent it. I beat it with Yoda and The Aprentice fairly easily. Arcade mode gave me a little trouble. Is it just me or does Arcade mode seem a lot harder than story mode?
I might actually buy it, but it will be from Ebay, I'm not paying $60 for it.
