For PS3 owners the RB drums are $30 at Circuit City. Out of stock online but some locals are available for pickup. I will get mine later today.

Yes, the Export Songs feature was in the game before RB2 came out. The $5 purchase was also in the PS Store before RB2 came out.

Man, you are getting a deal on all your RB stuff! All you need now is a USB mic!

By the way, I bought the American Idol Encore Bundle from GameStop for $30 and it included a mic.

Don't know if it is still the same price though.

Best Buy has a 2 pack of mics for $25 that work for 360 and PS3. With that and the Nyko USB splitter (unless one comes with the drums) for $20, the set will be complete.

I just got the "Rock Pedal", and it's really nice.
The spring isn't nearly as strong as a regular pedal, and
you can adjust it to suit your style.

The bottom line is it makes double/triple bass taps MUCH easier.
And since the spring isn't a killer it's a lot less tiring to just
leave the bass pedal held down, and lift the foot maybe half a beat
before you need to push it again.

I can now finally get through the impossible songs on hard, and I think
I can finally go to expert now.

A friend of mine who bought a second pedal said that if you get a headphone Y adapter, you can do double pedals, but you can't hold the pedals down as if you do that, it won't register the other pedals press.

I saw a pedal at Best Buy that said it has a port to plug in another pedal. That way, if you want to do two foot pedals, you can just plug in your original pedal into the new one. I am guessing that this pedal would allow you to hold down the pedals, but not sure.

Price and store for "rock pedal"?

Circuit City has some other stuff on sale like the mic stands for $12.50.

That's correct. When a pedal is down, it sends a signal, and will continue
to send a signal until you release it. This will mask any other pedal going on/off.
The only way two pedals would ever work is if pushing a pedal sends a 'pulse'
which remains zero as the pedal is held down. No current pedal does this.

Rock pedal can only be ordered from: http://rockpedal.com/
It's $75, not including shipping, so it's probably only for the hardcore.
There are instructional videos on that site, so you can get see what you get for the money.

Stupid Nyko Hub didn't work. It would power the Nyko guitars but not the RB1 drums nor Blockhead mics. I'm going to return it for a powered USB hub. Probably will have more slots than the RB USB hub. Gonna need to charge the controller since it stays on the whole time you play with the mic.

So we opened RB2 early rather than Christmas Eve. I did this to find out the above. My wife and I were hooked as we played it all weekend. My 2yr old even wacked on the drums while we played. The setlist is nothing to be desired for IMO. Some great songs, some good songs, and a lot of WTF songs. Now given my age, I naturally loved all the grunge, some of the 80's hits, some of the metal, and some of the oldies. They have bands that I love but picked some of the songs that would have been like my 4th or 5th choice to perform. Also I like how GH gives you the songs rather than make you play a lot of the same songs 4-5x. It was kind of annoying to have to do a mystery setlist and perform songs that we had just done. I also felt that the guitar on medium is much easier than the GH3 guitar. It was very rare that I had 95% or less. It seemed that GH captures the notes better. I also had problems with fast, repetitve notes of the same color. The Steve Miller Band song was one that gave me problems. But in GH3, songs that had a similar repetitive nature were very easy to pull off.

The wireless mic isn't really all that great, but if you are playing on easier levels, it's fine. I usually use it just so I don't have to jerk around with USB hubs. Then you have the three usb slots on the xbox 360 (one on the back).

I liked the RB1 disk set better than RB2 actually.
The songs get more 'metal' as they get harder. I'm not looking forward
to 'Visions', as I think it just sounds horrible.

The Rock band forums have a persistant 'please let us disable songs we hate' thread, but Harmonix hasn't done it yet.

More songs will help this. After the RB1 export, and DLC, I've basically filled my disk.

GH3 is signifigantly harder than Rock Band 1/2, although it is very debatable whether that is good or bad. You see a lot of people say it is overcharted,
meaning they added notes that aren't in the song just to make it harder.

What's "Visions"?

I checked the set list for all the other games and I think I like GH3's the most. Then again, a lot of the songs in that game I didn't know too much about prior to playing.

It's a death metal song, and without question the most hated song on the RB2 disk.

Some people like it, but the vast majority hate it.
You can do a search on youtube for it, under visions and 'rock band 2'

got a question. My brother for Guitar Hero:World Tour for xmas. Now I am hooked on this game and want to buy the drum set. I was reading yesterday and I found some info stating that Rock Band instruments will be or are already compatible with Guitar Hero games. Can someone confirm this?

What system do you have?

Yes, the RB drums should work for GH:WT.

Here is a compatibility matrix.

Unlocked all 84 songs!

Having to go through the Tour mode to unlock all the songs was BS. Here is how I did it in about 30 songs.

Go into the Tour mode like normal, but instead of choosing "Continue Tour", choose "Play Challenge".
Go into the first level challenge, and beat one of the challenges. It will unlock the next level of challenges. For me this was 4 songs.
Beat one of the second level challenges. For me it was 4 songs, but I saw after that there were some that had less songs.
On the third level, beat the "90's Hits". This was 4 songs, but will unlock all 90's songs.
On the fourth level, beat the "60's Hits". This was 2 songs and unlocks all 60's songs.
On the fifth level, beat the "00's Hits". This was 4 songs and unlocks all 00's songs.
On the sixth level, beat the "70's Hits". This was 4 songs and unlocks all 70's songs.
On the seventh level, beat the "80's Hits". This was 4 songs and unlocks all 80's songs.

You should now have all 84 songs unlocked!

BTW, if you want to unlock all the songs temporarily, you can do this:
Go to the "Extras" section.
Go to "Modify Game".
Go to "Enter Unlock Code".
Press the following buttons on the guitar "Red, Yellow, Blue, Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Red, Yellow, Blue"
The game should now say "Modifier Unlocked - Unlock every song in the game!"
Press "Green" to continue.
Scroll down to "Unlock all songs" and press "Green" to select it.
It will ask if you are sure you want to activate the modifier. Select "Yes" and press "Green" to continue.

Once you select this modifier, or some of the other modifiers, like "No Fail Mode", will disable saves, online play, etc.

When you start RB2 later, you will enable the modifier again.

Have fun!

^Sweet. I will do that. What pisses me off is that on tour I've played some songs that don't appear on the Quickplay menu.

I am not sure the sequence for the drums. Might be the same as the guitar?

As far as playing through the challenges, you can use any instrument. I used the drums.

That is odd, when you unlock a song in Tour mode, it should unlock it in Quickplay. I had 29 songs unlocked before going through the challenges.

Sorry let me clarify. I did a mystery setlist or one of the multi-song sets. We did Spoonman and Give It Away and it doesn't show.

Oh. Yeah, I think the Mystery Setlists are just random songs so might not appear in your Quickplay.

By the way, it only took a couple hours to do all the challenges.

Make sure you are logged in as the same character that you unlocked songs under.
Kind of stupid, but oh well.

My husband and I just bought RB2 for the PS3, it can get quite funny when you get a person singing. Anyway I tried the cheat code to unlock all songs and it did not work. I did not realize you had to do it everytime you restarted the game. I'll try it again tonight, THANKS for the tips!

4 person band FTW!

I am not positive, but you may just have to scroll down on the modify menu to enable it again, instead of having to enter the whole code.

P.S. Did I ever mention how much "No Fail Mode" rules?

You should have bought them when Doom did at $30. That was a deal and a half!

Fix your PS3 already!!!!

I know I bitched about liking GH3's guitar notes but this is ridiculous. Doing Killers - When You Were Young there are several sequences of constant strumming. On GH3 I bang it out no problem. But in RB2 I'm hit and miss. I don't know if it's the timing, a crappy Nyko guitar, or if the notes are just messed up. Anyone else have an idea?

Did you calibrate for screen lag?

Also, my TV (Sony LCD) has a "Game Mode" where it turns off all processing so the output is almost instantaneous. If I don't have that on, and I have all the Motion Flow, Cinema Flow, etc on, the delay is close to one second!

Something to consider - I've read that GH3's hit windows are notably larger than Rock Band, and GH2 for that matter, so that could be it.

I assume you are using the same guitar, so that shouldn't be the problem.

ohh yea, GH3 and world tours hit boxes are huge, there are times on my friends plasma TV where im like "damn i should have not gotten that note" but it still registered.

and then when my friend tried out rock band 2, he was failing like crazy because he wasnt used to the smaller hit boxes of rb2.

I'm not sure if this has been answered here but do Rock Band 1 insturments for PS2 work on Rock Band 2 for PS3?

Also, if I get Rock Band 2 for PS3, all the downloads for Rock Band 1 from the Playstation Store will work?

Sorry if this has been asked/answered...

Yes, they should all work. A friend of mine had the PS2 version, and they were all USB based. I brought over my PS3 RB guitar, and was able to play on the PS2. As far as I could tell, the instruments were all exactly the same.

When you buy the drums they have the PS2 logo on it. When you buy them from Circuit City it even says Playstation 2 and 3. Also in the Rockband.com FAQ it says that PS2 and PS3 instruments. I strongly recommend you guys read that FAQ as it answers the most popular questions out there. A lot of the stuff I found out from other posters which I could've found out in 2 mins through the FAQ.

RB1 and RB2 share downloaded content. Your PS3 will automatically register the downloads to your RB2 game when you enter Quickplay.

As for the guitar hits, I think you guys are dead on about the hit sizes. The little RB Arkanoid blocks are smaller to hit thus trickier. I guess it balances out with GH3's tricky guitar combos. Medium guitar is MUCH harder on GH3 vs medium on RB2.

Last night my wife was out with the kids so I finally got a nice long drum session in. I started off on easy (I had already played drums before) doing the challenges. When i did the 00's challenge I did medium by mistake. Big difference as far as using the bass but I still got by. After finishing the challenges I tried a few of the "Impossible" songs on medium like Cherub Rock and Everlong and man those are tough. Cherub Rock with the bass hits between drum hits was scary. So then I got confident and did Eye of the Tiger and Creep on Hard. Not bad, still hit in the 90's. Then I went for Eye of the Tiger on Expert. Dude I'm a fucking drummer LOL. I hit like 93%. Very easy song obviously but I believe the note list is the real thing.
