Have both consoles and going to get Madden, either for the 360 or PS3. Anyone care to comment on which version would be the one to own? Not a big time online gamer for Madden so on-line play won't be that big of a deal, just looking for something with the better graphics and control.

I would say they would pretty much be the same as far as graphics and gameplay. If you wanted to play online I would say 360 but you said that wasn't important.

I usually buy madden every year and its pissed me off the past few years. I miss 2k sports, I loved those games. They were so much more realistic, it just didn't have the big name.

Whose thinking of buying madden?? Comes out Friday (technically thurs midnight) IGN gave it an 8.9, saying its the best madden yet with improved graphics and slower gameplay. Then again, they say that every fuckin year.

^

I buy Madden every year as well... but last year I bought it, then sold it on eBay (for purchase price) within a week. Same shit as the other Madden's. Oh, and I have an X360, so that is the Madden I buy.

This year I am waiting for some of my friends to buy it to see what it's really like b/c...as you said, every year it comes out the magazines say it's the best ever when the last few have been shit.

So we'll see what this year is like. If it sucks I'll probably pickup NCAA...

Well I knew I couldn't wait. I never do. Picked it up this afternoon for the X360... we'll see how it is later.

^ I read that as well. I was also talking to the kid at BB and he was telling me the demo was really good and that it blew last year's out of the water. I told him I sold my Madden 2009 on eBay like 10 days after I bought it... he did too.

So hopefully they're back on track with the franchise. We'll see.

I'm glad I'm not that much of a football freak that I need it every year. I still enjoy espn 2k5 on my xbox.

^ It's not a big deal to get it each year. I buy it around launch... play it for a few months... usually get bored around playoff time... then sell it on eBay for a few bucks less then I paid for it. Been doing that for about the last 5-6 years or so.

So I get a new, updated football game every year and it costs me a few bucks in the end. It's like renting it for 4-5 months for the price of a one day rental. Can't go wrong there.

at Hitler. However, I don't really care about custom playbooks./plays, so that doesn't bother me.

I have to say that this is the best Madden in years. I like it a lot and am glad I picked it up. If they keep this momentum going all Madden fans will be in the glory for years to come...

I agree on it being the best in years. Really fun, great looking gameplay! I just wish the Chiefs didn't suck so bad

360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii: Madden NFL 10

I haven't bought madden since 06, but rented 10 to see if it was really as good as EA claimed it would be AND if they finally fixed the playoff matchup problem in franchise mode.

Well the game is better than the crap I've played in the past, but they STILL didn't fix the playoff issue:

I simmed a season and here are the stats for the AFC.

1. Patriots (13 - 3) -- Division winner
2. Steelers (12 - 4) -- Division winner
3. Chargers (10 - 6) -- Division winner
4. Ravens (11 - 5) -- Wild Card
5. Titans (9 - 7) -- Division winner
6. Broncos (9 - 7) -- Wild card

According to the NFL, the division winner automatically get seeds 1 - 4 (regardless of record), and the two remaining wild card teams are sorted based on record. So here is the playoff seeding.

1. Patriots
2. Steelers
3. Chargers
4. Titans
5. Ravens
6. Broncos

For the wild card games the Chargers play the Broncos and the Titans play the Ravens. The winners of these two games were the Chargers and the Ravens.

According to the NFL, in the Divisional round, the #1 seed plays the lowest remaining seed of the two wildcard game winners, and the #2 seed plays the highest remaining seed.

So this should put #5 Ravens vs. #1 Patriots and #3 Chargers vs. #2 Steelers.

But Madden has it all wrong, putting #3 Chargers vs. #1 Patriots and #5 Ravens vs. #2 Steelers, because I believe they are basing the division match-ups off team records and not playoff seeding. Its been like this in Madden 03 and 06 and more than likely every other Madden since the NFL realigned the divisions to 4 teams.

This happened in real life during the 2006 NFL playoffs and I would have thought the people who test and develop these games would have caught it and finally fixed it, but no dice.

I guess they will NEVER fix it, but considering its "Licensed" by the NFL and the ONLY NFL game out, you would think they would be able to get this right.

I reported to EA back when I found it in Madden 03, and all the rep told me was to "hope it doesn't occur in next year's version". Yet 7 years later, its still broken.

I put it on their forums again yesterday, along with someone else who found the same issue.

There is a difference in game speed. It seemed a lot slower to me initially. It may be because I haven't played it very much but I hate how you have to sub in players because some of your starters will get very tired (red) on some plays.

I think my favorite was Madden 2004. I loved the custom plays, and I did have a few passing plays that took ages to develop but were tailored specifically to take advantage of Vick's scrambling abilties I haven't bought Madden since the 2007 version with Shaun Alexander on the cover. I was reminded why when playing 2010 and there were several things that annoyed me, some downright pissed me off.

For the first 2-3 times, having the chain gang come out was kinda cute. Then it got downright irritating knowing that you can't skip the cutscene.

The fumbling button smashing.

I've seen this on two different 360s already, but when you go to choose a play and you see the QB on the sidelines talking on the phone, usually his face looks really fat and nothing like him, until a few seconds later when the rendering finally finishes and the QB resembles who he's supposed to. Weird.

and Pro Tak doesn't work. I was running the ball as Adrian Peterson no less, and I ran into a gap in the open field with 4 defenders converging on me. I ran straight into one, broke the tackle, and the other 3 defenders sorta just bumped into each other and didn't do jack, so I ended up running for a 40 yard TD and pissing my other friend off. oh, and it happened again in the same game, where I ran for another long TD. We watched the replay several times and could only attribute it to one reason: AD, All Day.

oh and Cris Collinsworth is such an annoying douchefag. Whenever I hear him babbling on with his routine, it makes me squeeze the controller until I can hear it flexing.

Some other things I'm sure I've missed but add on top of that the whole shenanigans they pulled with the Franchise Mode.... no thanks. I'll go over to my friends' house whenever I really feel like playing Madden.

Yeah, I guess I could say I got used to Madden's commentary after a while. Al Michaels hasn't ever really bothered me, plus he's one of my favorite real-life NFL commentators.

Madden 10 Online Franchise

Hey guys, Im looking for some people to join my Madden 10 Online Franchise.

If you have an Xbox 360 and Madden 10, reply with your gamertag and I will invite you to the franchise.

To make the teams fair there will be a live draft once we have enough people in the franchise. This is going to be a serious franchise where you can't just play one week...and then not get on Madden for 2 weeks.

Let's make this work, who's in?

Does anyone else get annoyed with both Madden and Collinsworth are talking? It happens all the time if I'm lazy and use the Ask Madden feature for play calling. Madden will be describing the play while Collinsworth is saying the defense has stopped the run all day (right after a 20 yard rush).

Also, stupid commentating will say it's a "2-score" game blah blah blah when the score is 14-20.

I've also noticed during halftime the rushing yards + passing yards doesn't always equal the total yards. Do they include yards from special teams or defensive interceptions? I swear I played 3 games last night and it happened every game. 75 yards rushing + 212 yards passing = 353 yards total. Makes no sense.

And I'm assuming it's just me but my kicking team gives up nearly 1 return TD per game. I can't understand why but when I'm kicking my guys are falling on their ass but when it's my turn to receive my blockers hold until I'm about 3 yards from them and then they fall on their ass and I'm murdered by 5 players from the other team.

the KR and PR yards are included in "total yards" thats why

maybe its just you on giving up the TD's

no seriously tho...i always get a TD on KR on a regular basis...or i break one and the dude gets tired and runs slow as shit! i hate the game speed and how slow they run even when they are rated high 90's

What pisses me off is that every pass play there are 4-6 opposing team players to cover my one guy... while when on defense its usually single coverage or double teamed. I've just gone to short passes which are very prone to interceptions. Lowering the game difficulty to the lowest makes it too easy and the next level up makes passing consistently impossible. Or do i just suck?
