With rumors swirling about new Battlefield games being announced at this weekend's New York Comic-Con, EA and DICE made it official with a press release confirming development of several new Battlefield games, including Battlefield 1943: Pacific, to be available this summer on Playstation Store, Xbox Live, and the PC. Battlefield 1943 takes players back to WWII. The game offers endless hours of 24-player multiplayer action over three classic and tropic locations: Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Delivering the award-winning through-the-gun and vehicle warfare online experience DICE is best recognized for, Battlefield 1943 will have players battling in ruthless aerial dog fights and intense trench combat.

In addition, the press release quotes Battlefield Franchise Executive Producer Karl Magus Troedsson as saying, "Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we're eager to get into players hands."

Looks amazing, they are getting it right with going back to the WW2 era of warfare. The newer ones (Nam, Modern) were never very great, especially vietnam. One thing that disappoints me is Battlefield Heroes that they have been working on for 2ish years is still not out. It looks clownish but still looks promising because it's free haha.

I might have to buy a new rig just for this! Man... I spent countless hours playing BF1942 earlier this decade. Loved it!!!

Anyone playing this? It got a solid 8.5 rating on IGN. Considering this to hold me off until COD MW2...

i downloaded the trial version for free and liked it, need to find 800 msp to buy it though.

 

This is all I've been playing since it came out. Really fun. I'm on the ps3 if anyone wants to play.

 

It's got three regular maps (Wake Island, Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal) and one dogfighting only map (Coral Island). I got the full game today and it's overall pretty fun, it's definitely worth $15.
