Kinda lost interest in the game. Im at the Bruce mission "No. 1" And i can seem to win this race. Got a little bit frustrated and havent touched the game since Saturday. Also on that mission where you have to chase a train in a car. What kinda shit is that?

Yeah, I found for all of the missions where you have to chase or race people/trains/cars/boats... you don't need to push it. You can if you want, but if you keep it slow and steady whatever you are chasing will eventually crash or slow down enough to make it really easy.
In the car race, its not gran tourismo...just keep a decent pace and everyone else will crash at least once.
When you chase the train, same thing... just go slow, all you have to do is make it to the train station around the same time as the train.

Check your back when you walk into a door during a shootout moving from room to room, sometimes you'll walk in and there is a guy standing a against the wall the door is on so you walk right past him and he shoots you in the back.

Another tip is keep all of your ammo full and a vest on your chest once you hit the $100,000 mark. There are some insane shootouts, you think the bank is hard, LOL! You are in for some shit. I keep 20 grenades, 570 rounds for the AR-15, 1000+ rounds for the MP5, and plenty of shotgun rounds.
Another thing is if people are chasing you take them out with grenades or shoot through the windows. In this game its not the same as Vice or San Andreas where you Had to blow up a car. I have shot the driver of a car full of guys and they crashed.
Another thing is the cops will sometimes help you. I got a wanted level while trying to kill a car garage full of guys so I took off because I didn't want to get shot from the cops and these guys so I kept circling the block. Well the guys started shooting at the cops so the cops killed them for me.
Losing the cops is easy as fuck in this game, just use a ferrari for your missions or leave it as a getaway car and take off down a straight street, you can see on your map where the cops are so get JUST outside the circle and stop the car in an alley so they can't see you.
You can call a taxi (escalade) once Roman gets his insurance money and it can take you instantly to where you want to go if you press skip instead of watching him drive...much quicker then driving.
Damn I know too much shit about this game.

BTW there is an Exotic car sales place in Manhattan across from Persus clothing store near Central Park. If you are looking at the map, look for central park, then look directly to the right there should be a clothing store, thats Persus. They always have plenty of Ferraris
The Motorcycle shop that sells NGR's is in New Jersey (AKA the third Island) Look for the hamburger place on the top of the map and go down the street its on about 3 blocks.

I always run around hot and heavy. In the beginning (which is where I still am), I usually pick up free weapons before and after each mission to stock up. They may not be the good ones (those always come later), but they're better than nothing. And you should always have something in each weapon slot, just in case.
You can snag a Ferrari (Turismo) next door to Faustian's house, too...not bad for those of us still poking around at 12% complete. And it's always unlocked.

HAHA! Has anyone else heard the 2 girl 1 cup reference on the radio!?
Also a good way to lose the cops is to go take a nap at your safehouse. If you park your car in the right spot it'll also repair it too.

Anyone else notice the main character sounds like shrek?
There was a part where I was shooting a room full of guys and one of them said "You are friends with a donkey!"
BTW I am on the last mission...this thing is a BITCH!

CHOICES AND OUTCOMES
Its in white, highlight the post to read it. It will tell you what happens whether you choose to kill someone or not, I found it on another forum
In GTA IV, you have different choices on how to play the storyline. This has no effect on completing the game, achievements, or 100% completion. However, certain choices effects different perks in your game. I felt this board might need this "FAQ" (even though it isn't really) to help straighten out certain questions that have been asked recently. Without further ado:
Ivan
- It makes no difference whether you kick Ivan to his doom, or pull him up and let him live druing the mission "Ivan The Not So Terrible". However, not completely sure about this, but later on in the game in certain missions involving the Russians, if you chose to save him, I believe they will scream "Remember Ivan the Terrible!"
Dwayne's Girl
- NOTE: I believe her name is Cherise, or something similar.
- Its the mission "Ruff Rider". It makes no difference on whether you decide to execute her before going after her lover. To be honest, I'd just go after her lover, letting her live, so he doesn't get away too far. Only difference is a minor change to the cutscene
Playboy or Dwayne?
- Mission "The Holland Play. . ." and ". . . The Holland Play"
If you kill Dwayne:
- Playboy gives you $25,000
- Playboy ends all relations with you
If you kill Playboy:
- You get Playboy's house
- You receive Claude Speed's GTA III outfit, only accessible through Playboy's safehouse. No where else.
- Dwayne becomes your friend. If you receive Dwayne's bonus, he will send two gangters/bodyguards to help you out if you are ever in need.
In the end, I'd choose Playboy to kill if I were you. The cash you receive if you kill Dwayne definitely isn't worth it where you should end up with with over $500k at the end of the main storyline. All three perks for letting Dwayne live are awesome, IMO.
Derrick or Francis?
If you kill Derrick:
- Francis gives you the perk to evade any wanted level you have if you call him.
If you kill Francis:
- Derrick gives you two (2) more missions if decide to kill Francis. These will also count to completing Francis's 100% mission completion in your stats.
This one might be a harder choice than Playboy/Dwayne. Francis does give you a sweet perk though, doesn't he? But you also have to remember that you're nearly done with the game and if you receive 4-6 stars, its because you tried to. Then why would you want to get rid of them? Pointless if you ask me. I chose Derrick and his missions. Still, its your call.
NOTE: If you date Kiki she can do the same thing Francis can, but only for your first 3 stars.
Roman or Kate?
- In the mission "One Last Thing" Niko calls both Roman and Kate telling them that he has the option to work for Dmitri or kill him. Roman tells you to work for him, Kate tells you not to. Either way, you get another mission between "One Last Thing" and Mr. and Mrs. Bellic.
If you choose to work for Dmitri:
- Roman dies in the mission "Mr. and Mrs. Bellic"
If you choose to kill Dmitri:
- Kate dies in the mission "Mr. and Mrs. Bellic"
I chose to kill Dmitri. First off, because he's a scum bag. Secondly, theres the guy code: Bro's before Ho's. So, in other words, Roman lived in my game. Also, if you work for Dmitri, thius killing Roman you lose his special ability (where he sends a cab to you for free).
NOTE: Not sure on how it happens, but there have been reports of where people have killed Kate, and then later on, after they finish the game, Kate calls you to do something.

I didn't kill Ivan or Dwayns girl, It should be noted that if you don't you can run into them later and do a instant mission for them. Neither are too fun though.

Spoiler about Playboy X and Dwayne
Since its the beginning of the game, if you choose to keep dwayne alive, go to the internet cafe and respond to his email. Once you do that he will call you and you guys can hang out, if you do that then when he gets to 60 percent liking you he will give you his bonus, which is 2 armed bodyguards to go with you on missions. Sounds like a damn good deal.

Since I have the guide, I know what you get for each person you don't kill (when given a choice)...for shits and giggles, I'm letting them live the first time through.
Now I know how JJ beat this so fast...he skipped all of the BS. I just got internet access, but I'm over 20% complete since I'm doing a good bit of the BS. In the end, I know I won't do some of it, but I'll do most of it.
And driving is getting easier...the Banshee is the best handling car I've encountered, so far. Unfortunately, I still can't free aim . The "hold the button half-way" crap in the manual never seems to work. Do you have to be holding L1 down (ie. constantly shooting)? I want to free aim, then fire one shot...that's it. Is it possible?
