tints is part of a cars beauty and at the same time blocks the sun.

but then again we live in chicago and chicago always wants money. and they say they are broke...
They are broke and the cops do have a valid concern, but to solve it all, when a cop approaches the car windows must be rolled down.

Last I heard, I thought it was either 35% all around or 20% up front and as dark in the rear.

Update from the facbook group:
The bill, in its pre-amendatory veto form, met with overwhelming support in both houses of the State Government. The one group of people that would have been a major opponent (ISP - Illinois State Police) was shown examples of what this bill will allow and came on board with their support as well.

This bill has not seen much opposition, and I do not know why so much would suddenly appear except for individual opponents drumming up more opposition behind the scenes.

There are really no reasons why this bill should die as it is fairly in line with what neighboring states allow, and the reasons behind the introduction of the bill are beneficial for residents of this state.... Read More

I don't think of anybody that could benefit from the killing of this bill as the bill will add stimulus to the state economy with the hundreds of thousands of people that would go out and get their windows tinted/retinted to comply with the new law as it was to be enacted! Any fans on here know some news-type people that would write a favorable story on this bill?

I want it to pass too but IMO....Plenty of municipalities make money on the current law, how much have you donated, in my case I got my first tints in 1986. As far as stimulating the economy I think most people that want tint have tint so those numbers seem high. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

i've never paid for a single tinted windows ticket since my first tints wehre installed in 2001. always brought in a picture of the tints "removed" 90% of the ppl do the same, more like how money they wasted b.c of it, and time.

Thumbs up It passed

ok so it officialy passed the House. I'm pretty sure it won't be a law until it also passes the Senate also so that will probably be a few more days/weeks.

If you have anything darker than 30 on your rears you won't be able to tint your front windows legally. If u have factory tint, then you can have 50% in the front. So you can have 35% all around or 30 in the rear and 50 in the front.

I am sorry but I am little bit confuse about the "new law" (assuming it will pass) Would you mind explain it again and/or perhaps link us to the actually document?

p.s. thank you for keeping us updated

these are ur options.
if u have 30% or darker on the rear windows, u cant tint the front windows
if u have 30% u can have 50% tinted front windows.
if u have factory tint, than u can have 50% tint in the front windows
35% in the front and 35% in the back

so my cl will be getting 35% all the way around, and keeping my tl at 5% all the way around, unless the buyer wants them off.

another post from the bill's facbook page
"Dailey doesn't want it because it messes with one of his city's nefarious money-making rackets...

When this bill is enacted as law and if you get a tint ticket in Chicago, FIGHT IT!

Chicago's ordinance will NOT supercede the IL Vehicle code with this bill enacted as law."

Is that mean once I get out of Chicago, and if I get a tint ticket somewhere in IL, I still have to pay for it?

It does matter. The city or municipality can put stricter regulations into effect; which I imagine they will do.

Senate voting will take place on the 28th-30th so it looks like we have just one more week until this hopefully finally passes.

After getting pulled over in my wife's '04 Honda Civic for the tints & no front plate, I asked the cop why I get ticketed if the car was bought new like that & there are Bimmers & Benzs that come completely blacked out from the dealer. He said exactly this "it is legal to sell cars with tinted windows, it is illegal to operate them" ...so I guess we should tow the cars around?! WTF! She didnt have the updated insurance card and I was on an expired license so a 5 minute trip to the store turned into $650 in fines, $100 tow & about 2 hours in Huntley jail.

I live in the burbs & wanna get slight 5% on a black Type S hope it doesn't add to my laundry list of tickets I already have.

Its all up to the cop thats pulling you over. I mean Ive gotten a warning for having a repaired tiny crack in my windshield like right above my city sticker...

nobody is gonna take a second glance if someone in a brand new mercedes or bmw has dark tints but since its a civic with tints theyre gunna think its some teenage kids up to no good...certain cars are labeled "trouble"
