Sup people?

well since i have had my TL in chicago, i have recieved at least 12 tickets for having 20% tint on my SSM. We all know the rule for Illinois states that you cannot have any tint NO MATER WHAT % on the front driver and passenger side window. Well me being the stubborn guy in regards to the city and its wack task force (i.e. CPD) i have not removed the tints but instead paid my tickets whenever i randomly recieved them @ $25.00 a pop. im think $25 bucks...wateva..no biggie. so i have recieved 3 tickets all at random times ALL WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED since April. I go to pay them 2day and yep u guessed it, the ticket prices went up. NOT because i waited to pay them but because the mayor's wack ass decided to pass a new law April 17th stating that tinted window violations will now result in a fine increase from $25 to $250 for EACH fine!! WTF?? are they fucking serious? so lets see, i have 3 tickets which normally would be $75 to pay all of them but now they are $750!!! how and when will i pay them i dunno but the stubborness for the good looks of the whip stop here. the city wins! fukin losers! i am strippin the tints on the front 2 windows tommorrow morning. So let my mishap be a lesson to my fellow chicago people. Get rid of the front tints if you have them...the shit is soooo not worth it!

btw: like i said before, they WILL ticket you while your car is parked! thats how i got all of mine!

the price was raised in january 14th i believe, u were getting off easy at first, and then they saw that u didnt do nothing about it, so they fu*ked up.

Thats why my car was sporting the 50/50 look at the meet. On a side note it's the first time in three years I don't have to sneek around the burbs to avoid the cops. It's liberating in some weird way.

The city has to find a way to pay for the olympics. Do you know that Chicago has 10.25% sales tax? This is more than NYC and LA. Additional taxes on bottle water, soda pop, and what ever they can think of. Some resturants charge and additional tax because of their location. I don't know how this mayor and county board president keeps getting re-elected.

SO last night i was driving down Irving park near central in chicago.. a cop put his lights on and pulled me over.. but he pulled next to me. i have poice LE plates and he asked me if i am in law enforcement i said no. he told me that window tints are now a 200 dollar ticket... i was like Damm he was like yep but ill let you go.. THanks LE plates lol

was. but then they wouldnt make any money. like someone mentioned above. they are raising the tax on alcohol, soda, and drinks. im gonna buy a summer house in Wisconsin bc this is getting ridiculous, then get my car registered their and not worry about my tints or passing inspection

Sorry to hear that bonsu. I'm glad I decided to with with 35%. During the day you can hardly tell they're tinted.

I'd say go back to East Side Tinting and re-tint them at 35%. It's a good look and you won't get harassed by cops.

I got 30% on the sides and 20% for the back... After someone broke into my car and f'ed my door up, I had to go get the window re-tinted after the car got outta the shop... The guy who does my tint is an ex-cop... He said they are still trying to pass the law for IL that 35% and lighter would be legal. He said if they do it, the cops will be carrying a gun thing to measure ur tint percent when they pull u over...

Yep, that's Chicago for you. I have lived in the city my whole life and would never leave, but the way they are trying to raise funds is just ridiculous. Whenever i drive anywhere i need to park in the city, i will pay the $12-$25 just to park in a private parking lot/garage. I HATE the front plate on the TL and i love my tints too much to take them off but, i had received 5 front plate tickets 5 days in a row while parked at a friend's house in Wrigleyville. Luckily i've never been harassed for the tints but i'm not taking any chances. The suburbs may be horrible for speed traps/dumb moving violations, but the city absolutely takes the cake for dumb motor vehicle code violations. Oh, and don't get me started on the parking meters!

I personally am not a big fan of having different shades in front and rears but if you wanna do it I'd go with 35% in the front. I originally wanted to go with 50% but that's not noticeable at all.

It sucks that you've been getting harrased tho. I loved the way your car looked.

anyway the tint shop owner told me today that a law was tryin to be passed in springfield to legalize 35% tint. the outcome wont be known till nxt week so im keepin my fingaz crossed so i can slap 35% back on the front cus im the whip is lookin naked up front now.

I had 35% on the fronts and was never harassed by CPD (driven right next to them several times day and night). Suburban did give warnings to my wife though. Re: on the law....I hope its not the same dumb law they tried passing a few years ago that would allow tint in the front but only for medical reasons.

i never got hassled and im runnin 5% all around. i doo drive with caution tho around my neighborhood. but never got a tint ticket when my cars parked

I have 50% and have learned to love it for the combo of tint and non-harassment it brings. But yes, il is close to passing a bill that will allow tint on even the fronts. But....it will only allow 50%. This could, however, make 35% easier to get away with. But yeah i'd say go with 50% now knowing its pretty safe, and there's a good chance it will actually be completely legal soon.

Of course they can. They can do whatever the f they want... if you have a note, it doesn't do shit now.
Yeah a WT plate but they are hard to get, even with a legit optometrist. My friend went thru an optometrist and was still denied.

Thats what I changed to before I moved, 50%. The contrast of 50% front and 20% back makes the fronts look more un-tinted.

The wife still has 35% all around though (and neither of us have front plates... ) so I guess we'll see how that goes... Stupid plate laws...

So I can't decide what I should do. I live out in the suburbs and I see plenty of cars with all-around tint. I'd only get 18% in the front to match my rear. What do you guys think I should do?

well i got a smilar story about my tints.

i was at NEIU freaking cops there are.. well i was coming out of a good work out at the gym walking towards my car. i was in my car making a phone call.. i didn't move my car. i was just there parked. well next thing you know the cop flashes his high beams on my car. i was like what did i do... maybe he wants to make sure am not a drug dealer or something. well turns out he wanted to give me a ticket for tints. wow! i was pissed off. he comes back hands my ticket. right... then i tell him "if you going to give me this f... ticket why don't you walk over to that car which is parked and has a tints too". he said i can't give him a ticket b/c that car is parked and not moving. oh wow i blew up even more i said you gave me a ticket for having tints and i am parked i haven't even moved. why?? he had no answer and he walked away. i was so pissed of...

i paid the 75 dollar ticket.

I would wait for the a verdict on the new law and get it as dark as possible, I couldn't afford to blow any more money so I'm going to sit tight and retint when it's more practical.

..see now thats where its gonna get all confusing and messed up for some people. For example, on our TL's.. our windows already come tinted with a light, light, light greenish tint. Its viewable on all glass when your cars been sitting in the rain. And lets say you get 35%.. "technically" its gonna be a lil' darker than 35%.. so then all it comes down to is rly how much of a prick the cop wants to be.

our cars come with 94% or 96% tinted. so if u as for 35% tint, and if the cop scans it it will be 29% or 31%

man this law sucks... i don't like this law. they should now care about the tints. and just approach the car with caution. call for back up or something.

i know they don't want tints on cars because cops can't see the people inside. but there are different solutions for this...

tints is part of a cars beauty and at the same time blocks the sun.

but then again we live in chicago and chicago always wants money. and they say they are broke...
