Re-Tinted

Re-Tinted
Hey Guys, well I have to admit that some of you were right about the new tint law. I was sure it would never pass but I'm glad it did. Over the weekend I returned to Z-Tech in Naperville and had my fronts re-tinted. I decided to leave the backs and rear window the original 15% and go with 35 in the front. I know it doesn't quite conform to the letter of the law but the fact that it's a little lighter in front should keep me out of trouble.
I gave the guy at Ztech the web address for AZ seeing that he was driving an RSX, hope to hear from him on the forums, maybe offering an AZ special to our members.
I'll post a picture or two later.

jim you are better off get 35% all around.

In IL you can have front windshield tint? I'm from AL and I think the law there is that you can black out back and rear-side windows, but nothing but a 35% stripe atop the front windshield or 35% on the front-sides. I want to get 35% all around though, because idk if I want my rear seat to be the only thing blacked out . . . like a cop car or something!
Do the cops use a tint detector machine in IL?
How much does tint run?

Fronts in this context means driver and passenger only not front windshield, 35% all around is legal here but that law just passed and the Chicago police use it as a reason to pull you over and give you a citation for something else. If your darker than 35 in the rears you can only have 50 in the fronts. 50 is like nothing so I opted to keep my 15 in the back and go with 35 in front because I didn't want to pay more to remove existing tint. There still gonna pull me over but I should get a pass on the tint ticket unless he has a light meter ....we'll see. Good tint job between $200 and $300 all the way around.

Late response but...
Hit up Umbra in Schaumburg for tinting... best place to go. Might be able to jump on the JDMC GB too but it might be over.
Jim, I still have my 20% on the rear... fronts have been stripped for awhile. I hate it but just the thought of dealing with "moleskins" again give me a headache (3G window rubber thing will scratch tints if you don't stick this felt crap on it... then when it gets warm out, the adhesive starts to smear. HUGE pain in the ass).
