Looking for tint recomendations in the NW Chicago area

Preferably around the Mundelein - Libertyville area, but driving my new 06 WDP/6MT/Navi that I picked up last night is fun so I am willing to travel!

thanks

I am also in the NW Suburbs of Chicago and looking for the same reccomendation. Anyone who could give us some feedback it would be greatly appreciated. I have some #s of a few places but I am specifically interested in the feedback from someone who had their TL tinted, will travel as well.

Thanks for the info, a few quick questions if it is not too much trouble:

Do you remember roughly how much they charged do to your TL?

Any problems with the tint scratching the window rollers as many have expressed?

And the Dealer where I bought the vehicle stated that I may end up with problems with the window rolling up and down because I am increasing the thickness of the window (don't really think this should be an issue but thought I would ask)?

Thank again.

I had my past Audi's done at Shaded Days in Libertyville. They've have always done and awesome job. All the Chicago Audi guys use them, and they've been in business for a long long time.

I got mine from Arlington Acura in Palatine. I ordered it 3 months ago and it came in Monday.

The price I paid was $33,300 before TTL which is $500 above invoice and includes the destination of roughly $600. OTD worked out to $35,869

It was a quick deal. I walked in, told the first salesman that sucked on to me that I would sign right now if they took the deal and they accepted. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I was happy with the price then but I think you may be able to do better from the info in some of the other posts here. Keep in mind that there are definite regional pricing levels if you read the posts.

Also, Arlington was always polite and didn't try any tricks. Other than the long wait of 3 months (I know they waited at least one month to see if they could grab another dealers alottment, they told me so) I had no problems with them.

Looking back, that was probably way to much information!

HiTec, thanks.

Shaded Days quoted me $275 for Ilumistar (? his pronunciation) on 5 windows.

FYI to others, I looked on some other boards for their recomendations and found Final Touch in Lake Bluff (quoted $295 for 3M on 5 windows) and Tint Works in Mundelein (quoted $225 for Lumar on 5 windows).

I won't go with the 3M because in the back of my mind I remember posts regarding fading. I may be wrong but Final Touch was also the highest, at least so far.

If anyone wants contact info for the others let me know.

Thanks

Mitch

I know at least one of those shops up north is an ex-employee of Shaded Days.

All I can say is that when I had mine done at Shaded Days I waited and watched as the owner tinted my car. I think he did a top notch job, and never had a problem with the tint (only owned the car for 2 years).

On my TL, I didn't feel like driving all the way up there so I found a shop to do mine in Naperville. They did a good job also.

slapmesilly,

I also bought my 06, NBP, AT, Navi TL at Arlington Acura. It makes me feel good to know that we paid the same price on our vehicles, I also paid 33,300. Must be the going rate at Arlington Acura. According to Edumunds that is about 300 or so over invoice so I guess we did ok.

Anyone got any pics of their vehicles with their Tint Job.

I had my old Accord done at Mid-America glass tinting in Schaumburg. All my buddies recommended them to me.

Going to get my tints done at Umbra in Schaumburg today. Got an appointment at 5, getting 35% done all around. I will have pics up later when it is done. Was quoted about $230, for the sides and the back.

Service was great, they fit me in on the same day I called. They had one of their installers drive back in from a job downtown, just to work on my car. They explained everything very well.

I did pay alot for the tints, compared to what others have paid, but I don't mind the price for the service I received.

do yourself a favor and go to Autowerks in Northbrook. you will pay close to $300 but it will be worth every penny. i had mine done at Ziebart originally which was a big mistake. the difference in quality of work is night and day.

altho a lot of people on here seem to know high-end places as well so i think any of those will be fine. just dont do a place like ziebart. autowerks has contracts with local lambo dealers etc etc. that speaks volumes about their work.

300 bucks for tint...that's crazy. Get it done for cheap as long as they install it right & get all the bubbles out. You can't tell that a certain tint is cheap until some time passes anyway. Avoid the sun when parking if possible & keep Windex/ammonia off of it and go spend the 200 you saved on something worth it.

anyone who thinks their tint job is great and payed $150 just either hasn't seen what a $300 job looks like, or doesnt have the eye for detail to notice. if you don't sweat the details then get your cheap tint jobs and be happy, good for you. i know this because i got a $175 job at ziebart and then a year later when i saw what a friend got for $300 at autowerks, i felt like i pissed away $175 for nothing. cuz now i'm paying $400 more for removal and retint (in 2wks). and i couldnt be happier to do so. cuz in the perfection i will be a happy happy man.

Kro,
thats awesome that you can afford 400 bucks for some tints. But to be honest with you paying that kind of money on tints doesn't seem right to me. i rather use that money to buy my car something else. maybe save that for some wheels.

i paid 150 and my tints probably will look the same as yours. and if they aren't i don't know what they did different...

but overall bro, more power to you that you are getting some bad ass tits... i mean tints. good stuff.

like i said $120 at logan square detailing and 3 years later they have not faded, no purple tint to them, so scratches, not bubbling. their great. no way in hell would i pay 400, shit not even 200. for 400 i expect them to stop a bullet or be shatter proof

I can definitely understand your logic/reasoning. But seriously, what's so different on a $300 job? What details make the extra price worth it; the tint quality or installation quality?

I'm personally anti-non-stock but I've had tint jobs done in the past...one I got done for $120, the other at around $230...didn't notice anything that warranted paying an extra 100 bucks, except that the more expensive job was done by a shop that was more popular.
