I set up an appointment with THMotorsports shop in glenview for Saturday. They quoted me 100$ for install on my calipers, rotors, pads and lines. I will see how the shop is and let you guys know. that price seems cheap considering he thinks it will be a 3 hour job.

Those guys do GREAT work! Quality service as well! If I can't do the work myself on my car, then they will get the job

u want bbk or just some better stopping power? i love my drilled and slotted rotors from brakepreformance or performacebrake (something like that) and ebc red stuff pads. have that combo in all corners. they do VERY well at high speed and high speed stops (130+mph) to 60mph-40mph stops.
Brian knows this very well as he almost shit his pants bc he didnt think i could have stopped in time but i did. also had my share of close calls. next up i will be going with RL brembo brakes and yellow stuff pads with nissan 350z drilled rotors.

this is on my 2nd gen cl. so dont know how well it will work with ur 3rd gen tl

Thanks Rajca, I appreciate the input!! I looked up the rotors, found them at brakeperformance.com, and the drilled and slotted are well priced for the pair. How do these hold up during the winters?? Does the look diminish due to snow and salt?? Do you have the black or silver one's??

Also found the EBC Redstuff pads at placeforbrakes.com and they seem to be at a reasonable price for the stopping power you mentioned. I like that they have low dust rating, current pads emit lots of dust and I don't like that. Again, thanks for input.

Anybody else have recommendations or feedback on the rotors and brakes listed here??? I'm in no rush to buy, just shopping around right now.

the pads will dust alot the first few hundred miles till they brake in. after that its all good. i have the black in front and silver in back. no surface rust. holding up great.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I've got a 2008 TL-S AT that needs to have the front brake pads (and most likely rotors) replaced. Forgive me for sounding stupid, but do you guys recommend getting aftermarket brake pads / rotors and having THMotorsports (ProjectX Customs) install them? I've been pretty happy with the Brembo OEMs, but replacing the pads and resurfacing the rotors every 17K is too expensive and driving me nuts!
(Any suggestions on specific brake pads and rotors? I've looked up and read about the slotted and drilled, but personally, I just want them to brake well and last longer than a year and a half... for a decent price, if possible)

I'm not looking for performance brakes, but I really don't want to pay the dealer $750 to replace the brake pads and rotors when I can get it done a lot cheaper (and better).

Thanks!

I think rajca has some oem brembo pads on the black market that I seen, he's selling them for alot cheaper than the dealer price, and oem is the best way to go in my opinion

i got a set of oem brembo front brake pads. if u dont want drilled and slotted go oem or replace then with another brand. try slotted, it will help out with stopping. im telling u right now, drill and slotted rotor will eat up the pads quicker

good to know that drilled and slotted eat up pads quicker, thanks. about how often do you have to change your pads? I drive a shitload, about 24k/year, this may be a bad choice for someone like me who is on the road alot. what do you think?

ive but about 5k on my pads and their half way gone. u have to understand that every time i drive my cl i beat the living hell out of it. ppl that know me know what my cl goes through. i have about 7 on my all season tires and thier half way gone also. it about how u drive. but if u dont do any hard driving, go oem replacement with some better pads.

i'm not looking to get big brake kit, just better stopping power, so i figured new pads and some drilled and/or slotted rotors would add to the appearance of the car along with adding stopping power. At the same time I would like some longevity on the pads. Any more suggestions. Highly considering the recommendation on EBC redstuff and brakeperformance drilled and slotted rotors.

Ah nice I used to live in Vernon Hills before I moved. Project X Customs is a small shop that is pretty new they opened in december. They did good work installing my brakes and were very careful with the car. The guys are from the chicago Z forum. They also have the cheapest prices I have seen, only negative is they work at a slower pace then most bigger shops.

I would go with slotted only rotors and avoid drilled ones.

I had front/rear brakes for my RL done at Project X.
I am getting my front/rear/ebrake BBK done at Project X.
I'm bringing my buddy's 7 Series to get his front/rear brakes done @ Project X.

Notice the trend.

Parts were purchased through TH Motorsports. They are next door to PX. In other words, TH is a parts dealer, PX is an installer. Win Win.

I called ill garage today. He wants me to email them pics of the underbody of the cl so he can give me an estimate. Wonder if this can be done in a day or if Id have to leave car overnight. It is kind of far from me and makes it more of a pain.

I was thinking of having project x install my comptech headers since they are closer and probably cheaper plus thats a whole day job itself. Then I will probably have iLL garage do the rest. I have the hi flow cat and comptech mufflers. I was thinking of buying a magnaflow resonator. Im assuming id want to get one with 2.5 inlet and outlet. What size can should i get they have 4"-7" ones?

Well after researching a bit looks like id want the 4 inch can with 2.5 core. It is down to 3 magnaflow models. 14416 is polished looking and 20 inches overall length. Or you can get 10416 which is satin finish and 20 inches long overall or you can get 10436(one p diddy has) which is 28 inches long overall. What would be better a 20 inch long or 28 inch long one?
