Since cabby bumped this thread, some general observations as time continues to pass in my ownership of the Hyundaudi Optima S5...
- Android Auto still is finicky even with the newer Pixel 4a versus my first-gen Pixel when I first picked up the car. The most common hiccup is that on occasion -- this happens usually AFTER I have driven somewhere already with the phone plugged in and integrated into the MMI -- the car needs me to re-approve permissions to join with the phone. And/or, the phone itself, will ask me to allow Bluetooth access to the car. It's uncertain the source of the glitch: Google or Audi here...or both.
- The other weird one which I noticed awhile ago but not lately since I don't yammer on the phone that much when I drive is if I'm calling someone -- usually toggled from the steering wheel, the phone does not dial out until I press the power-button on my phone to "wake" up the screen. If it stays black, the call itself on my MMI will say "Dialing..." and then, give up without even a ringing sound. It will say "Ending Call" and that's it. It is only after I wake up the phone that I can successfully make that call. For both these examples, I've flagged it at my recent oil change and per the stealership, no TSB/recalls/firmware-updates they can find. So, part of the "quirk", I guess.
- Satellite map is set to default but occasionally, I still have to go into Audi Connect in the MMI to kick in the satellite map -- otherwise, it stays in the default look.
- 2 days ago, as a habit, I initiated the pack assist camera and when I pressed it to turn on, the cameras displayed no images. I parked, shut the car down, restarted the vehicle, accessed the cameras and this time, it worked. Go figure.
- Performance wise, still a hoot to drive -- the sound it makes on Dynamic Mode is just thrilling. The car isn't some V8 beast but it just feels fast.

On certain days my 360 camera will decide to become 180 degrees ... the worst is my 360 parking distance sensor (not lane departure).... sometimes when it would beep like crazy (when parked) like i am about to get hit on the side (per the screen) and there is NOTHING around me.... that is some creepy shit...
Even our phones act up from time to time...

Their quality control has improved vastly dude. You should try driving an Audi if you want annoying quirks.
Actually on the S4...
both front door B&O speakers needed replace because the surround basically disintegrated $107 for both, free labor
low pressure fuel pump (mind you, I'm tuned so maybe the demand was higher on it) $360, free labor
fuel door actuator is getting finicky, swapping that $70
MMI takes a bit to link up my phone, usually at least 40 seconds.
So short of a catastrophic failure, I have no more or less problems than I experienced on my 3G TL with a car that is arguably
slightly better in every regard making substantially more power. Parts are a bit more pricey but not even really...the 3G shit is
getting more expensive. Doing most of my own labor helps a ton too.
Love these cars.
but don't listen to me...I love that damn Volvo too.

As I said, it's not always and just occasionally and most often, occurs after I had already driven the car to a location. Parked and switched the vehicle off. When I get back to the car maybe 5-10 minutes later, the car somehow needs me to reconnect the phone again. In this scenario, one more thing, I usually leave my phone still plugged into the USB in the car. (This scenario is usually when I am dropping Little Cha off at school and walking him to the door.)

In my TSX, I started having odd issues with my Pickle 4a as well. With my P2, the phone would connect to bluetooth in the car whenever I got in. Usually it took an excessively long time but would eventually link up.
But with the P4a, it just won't do it. It doesn't even see the car, I have to go in to bluetooth on the phone and manually connect to the car each time.
I'm convinced there's something in the phone that's different. And it sounds a lot like your issues as well.
Guess that's what we get for getting the 死 phone.

Hai. The 4a is up-to-date and so is the MMI firmware per the stealership. Looks like just a "quirk".

Nothing fancy to report but I'm going to be buying extended warranty...just negotiating price with the 2 stealerships in town and seeing which place can get me the best price. Want to extend it to 2026/120,000km.

Henry, may I just say that that is a wise move.
The Audis are awesome but when you do need to do work on them
they do require some special tools and experience...having that covered
under warranty is a good move.
I had to do the water pump and tstat on the S5 yesterday myself at 75K.

At this point, I do not think I will ever buy new again and NOT get an extended warranty. With the type of vehicles I like...it just makes sense. Had I gotten an extended warranty on the Durango I'd still be rocking the shit out of it.

Similar thoughts here.. except i went with another route... i only lease.
The cars i like are not "reliable" or the repair/maint. are relevantly expensive.
And for some odd reason i dont like any of the reliable and "the cheaper to repair" ones.
0 interest in owning any car longer than 3 years... Except for s2000....

I don't know, man...
sometimes I think an older Accord or Prelude would be so easy to work on and daily drive.
But Ze Germans do nail the driving experience...so for the time being I'll give in to the Stockholm syndrome.

Warranties are almost never worthwhile for the person who buys it. That's the only way warranty companies manage to stay in business.

Now, I could have just done all the work, been hunky dory, and still be enjoying the vehicle which I loved to death. But I had a lot of equity in it, and carvana made an offer I couldn't refuse. Smart money was to sell, especially because my father just gave me his old is250 awd. Now, I've been driving that for over a year...and it does the job, its even kinda fun in curves and corners...but I would like to start thinking about replacing it at some point with something I actually want.

It wasn't terrible. But my rear EVAPs in the AC went at 50k...got a "one time" assist from Chrysler...and less than a year later I could tell they were going to go again. Then, I went for an oil change and they said the oil pan had warped and they didnt want to break the nut/bolt...so they did that oil change use one of those siphon rigs....a new oil pan was going to be $1200 ($1600 at a dealer). I had to replace the front shocks at 50k. etc etc.
