Yumcha Buys Car, Arrives After World Ends, Abuse of Vehicle Ensues

It wasn't terrible. But my rear EVAPs in the AC went at 50k...got a "one time" assist from Chrysler...and less than a year later I could tell they were going to go again. Then, I went for an oil change and they said the oil pan had warped and they didnt want to break the nut/bolt...so they did that oil change use one of those siphon rigs....a new oil pan was going to be $1200 ($1600 at a dealer). I had to replace the front shocks at 50k. etc etc.
Now, I could have just done all the work, been hunky dory, and still be enjoying the vehicle which I loved to death. But I had a lot of equity in it, and carvana made an offer I couldn't refuse. Smart money was to sell, especially because my father just gave me his old is250 awd. Now, I've been driving that for over a year...and it does the job, its even kinda fun in curves and corners...but I would like to start thinking about replacing it at some point with something I actually want.

Damn...Never had such issues with the cars I've had lol. That's certainly worth the money for the warranty but it could have just as easily gone the other way. For ever experience like yours, there are 100 (number completely made up) that have no issues whatsoever so the warranty company just pockets the cash. Better off putting the warranty cost into a low fee ETF and using it for repairs in the future.

they are pretty reliable. Yes some have some issue not unlike ze Germans. 2017 got some bum deals as 1st model year.
Ours has been solid (knock on wood). Some glitches in the software but our former x3 had those too. Nothing that restarting/rebooting the car didn’t fix.

2 Alfa’s would be preferred

The Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio is impressive. If it came down to that versus say, the RS5/RS4, I would have a very hard time picking...I would assume the BMW M4/M3 is out because of that brutal snout and let's assume I don't care for the Merc AMG sedan.
It would come down to taking some driveability perks (Alfa) versus a better cabin (Audi). In regards to base the non-Quadrifoglio, I'd probably lean towards the Audi. First world problems.

You know what is funny? Whenever i bought a car (CL-S, S2000, Accord) the car always had some major issues.. warranty or not. The CR-V is only the reliable one so far.. knock on wood, but it has only been less than 2 years. So we will see about that.

Both are really nice for what they are and how much they cost. The problem is that what they are is probably not what you're looking for. Similarly, an Audi S4/S5 is pretty terrible for carrying 7 people and towing a boat.

Pffft...have you seen us carry an entire clan on one scooter? An S5 is practically a frigate for us.

I've never driven an Alfa but I would love to one day .. I know they're a hoot to drive and probably have more theater.
Audi's are generally a bit numb & a little too refined .. however, their platforms are pushed much further from an aftermarket / power prospective and they do it more reliably.
4.0T / 3.0T / 2.5T are solid from factory and they produce results when modified.
RS7s are in the low 10s
RS3s are in the 7s
TTRS are in 8s
SQ5s are in the low 11s
S4s are in the low 10s
I'd love to see Alfas more mainstream because I'm sure they'd have some impressive results as well.

Admittedly (as you can tell / have noticed over the last few years), I'm a big Audi fanboy but, Alfas are seriously badass and have something different / a different kind of excitement behind them.
I'm not against driving one .. I'm almost scared of how much I'd like it.

Whoa, sportback bros don't let other sportback bros get down on themselves!

I would love to try one and given what peeps like hdcolumbus have posted and etc., I know they are solid cars. Reliability is something to consider truly but would it be a show-stopper? I am unsure I can say that if everything is so great. The one negative as I said earlier are the interiors. Still, I think having the Alfas in the market is a great thing...competition begets quality and innovation.

I mean, some peeps love interiors of Teslas and think they are perfect but they do zip for me. So, yeah...totally subjective.

I had a Stelvio diesel as a rental for two weeks last time I was in Europe back in 2019 (thank you to my company for paying for it ) and it was great to drive around the winding roads of Switzerland. Only downside I saw with the driving part was that it was rather unstable when you got to autobahn speeds (110mph+).
Other than that, the interior was pretty quirky and nowhere near as good in terms of quality as the German cars but overall not bad.
