Your next car: Which/When/Why

Fairly simple thread idea I got from another forum. State what your next car will be (or an idea of what it will be), when you will be buying it, and why you chose that car.

Which: As you might have seen from my other thread, I'm currently digging 05+ Subaru Legacy GT's.

When: Late Spring - Early Summer

Why: Car looks good, reliable from what I've heard, 5-speed with AWD; And the H4 Boxer motor.

Let's see what you got...

Which: 2007/2008 TLS, 2010 Genesis Coupe or 2010 Camaro
When: May 2009 - July 2009
Why: Current lease on my TSX end in April. All these cars look good and should be reliable. Although I would prefer a coupe as my next car, I love the TLS

Which: Don't know...will be a RWD coupe, potentially a convertible (all the usual suspects are on the list at the moment).

When: 2013/14

Why: Always wanted a vert, and I loved the coupe I had as a kid. As for the time frame, I want to move and the new house is the priority until I do.

Not sure
Not sure
because of the above.

Ill probably have to buy my wife a new car first. That will probably be next summer some time. She will be getting a A8.

As for my self.

It will most likely be CTS/CTS-V
probably in 2010-12 due to wifes car
Acura has nothing i want and i want RWD, They (cts) are a solid car and fun to drive with the interior room i need (6'5") and can afford to drive (german cars maint would kill me seeing i put 40-50k a year on).

Which - Infiniti G35/37 Coupe if my I35 still keeps going like it is. If not, then maybe the RL for me.

And a used FX35 to replace the Pathfinder.

When - Not for a while. Maybe 2010 for the G coupe. The FX could be sooner, but not likely.

Why - I like the G coupe. Always had. It is on the list of cars I would like to own. But it will be a 3rd car. Not a daily driver. I hope to still be able to use the I35 as a DD.

The FX price is coming down a lot and it a good, reliable replacement for the Pathfinder. I think the wife would like it more. And so would I.

When: when i'm actually making real money, so prolly a few years
why: i really like luxury cars, and those are the ones i have it narrowed down to, oh and i miss having a 4-door

prolly keep the first gen cl for some type of second car/small project car

and if i'm making a lot of money i'd add an m coupe into the mix for good measure and sell the cl

Which: s2000 with a SC (stock is slow I think) or a 350z

When: Not for a year or 2. Getting an appartmant next summer but will still be living at home. Just gonna rent it out so it pays for itself.

Why: I like both of those cars and I always wanted a 2 door sports car. And prices of those are reasonable so the I can pick up one for "cheap"

Which: 2010 or 2011 Audi S4/A5/S5

When: Within the next 2 - 3 years

Why: Because I just don't like the 4G TL as much as I like my '08 TL-S, no matter how much I want to and I have always liked the S4, I would get another Acura if they make some serious design changes in the near future.

Which: BMW M3/135i, Subaru Legacy GT, Acura RDX, whatever Porsche that might be in my price range.
When: Possibly next summer
Why: The AWD vehicles have the leg up as I'm considering moving to Denver. My CL-S would be horrible up there in the winter. The BMWs and Porsche are more less just a fantasy for my transitional phase.

Expect a follow up thread in 2011/2012 to see who actually followed through with their predictions

It's nice to see people going for sports/sporty cars rather than Yaris' and Fits...

I placed an order on a M3 sedan last month but gave the spot to someone else as I got the green light from the wife to get whichever I wanted.

Which: Between a 997 C2S, 997 GT3, CTS-V, Gallardo, CLK BS or R8 if the price comes down.

When: Next spring or summer or sooner if the right one comes up

Why: I did some track days this summer and would love to do some more with the right car. Did I mention I have car ADD.

^If the 335i coupes drop back down, I wouldn't mind getting back into one and mod it as maintenance would be much cheaper than the other models I'm considering.

The CLK BS is a hot car, then again so is the GT3 and everything else you listed. How will you decide?

Those are pretty cheap now, but unless you're looking at a turbo(at which point I would still probably try to find a 997 C2S for similar money) I would test drive a number of similar priced cars. I know you have a thread about this, I just was never impressed with the 996, factor in its age and I strongly feel there are better cars out there for similar money.

Want an STi based on the deals right now.

There is also a really nice used Spec B with 7k on the clock for like 27k in town. I bet it could be had for 23-25k in this economy.

Sadly, not soon, the wife is not having it and there is talk of children in the next few years. Not that I don't love my Si, its just time, with my auto ADD...and a coupe plus kids, and I miss AWD in the snow, especially as my job will have me up a nasty canyon at least once a week this winter... (Parley's from SLC to Park City for any that know this area)

Maybe a 3 series in a few years, or a G35x/G37x
