Are you considering an EV yet?

A friend ordered one and took delivery in November 2023. Rode in it a few times - it's comfortable, quick, seemed to hit all the boxes that he needed. (Edit - first part of this comment was in response to the Fisker picture.)

Separately - I really thought the cybertruck was a joke. Fuck it is an ugly embarrassment.

And the one that can cut off your finger, scrape away your skin, rust in the rain, and requires an immediate IPA/water cleaning in the event of bird poop and bugs on it isn't?
From a technology standpoint the CT is amazing but for everything else...eh.

Not sure about the cutting off the finger thing, havent read about that. But the rust seems to be slightly overblown, and potential attributed to rail dust. So, get the car and detail it. Ceramic will probably go a long way with this vehicle. Or...get a wrap like 90% of teslas owners seems to do anyway

But the Aztec was a literal shitbox. How many do you still see on the road today?
The wife wants a Taycan. We went to look at them. The Turismo is terrible - no idea why that design was approved. The regular one looks great. Just as another useless anecdotal comment on my preferences.
It is unique. So it get's that check box. I juts don't get it otherwise. If I needed an electric truck I'd get the Ford or Rivian. Was the design just assuming the Tesla devotees would buy it regardless of how it looked? Or the assumption that buyers didn't care how the vehicle looked.

I think Tesla just said let try and redesign a truck from the ground and make it look futuristic while we're at it. They took a risk and saw it through, I appreciate that.
The new EV charger reveals tomorrow, and pics have been leaking...you should hear the crying over that one. And again I think it looks good.

panamera dropping the turismo bodystyle removed it from my list of possible candidates if we need to replace a car.
I do wish the turismo cars had a longer roof with a more upright rear window. I prefer how bmw, Audi and Mercedes have a more upright rear window.
I like Turismo, too

What EV charger reveal is tomorrow?

The tire tread releases toxic particles 400 times greater than exhaust emissions
See, I love the hate it gets!I'm sure you already saw, but everything that was rumored...only new news to me is that it will come as a 2 and 4 door. But otherwise EV or TT V6.
I don't think Rivian has much of a chance on its own. It has to get acquired at some point.
So I'm still on track to move to Japan in the summer. But one place you would think that would be more on the EV infrastructure and using EVs is Japan. Lots of commuting and not huge distance drivers. But it's really in it's infancy there. No real charging infrastructure. Going there, I thought about it, but it seems the only way is home charging if doing a pure EV. They overwhelmingly like hybrid systems.
Are they thinking this through better than the US? I think the hybrid is a good bridge as the technology and battery recycling get better. FWIW, my family is not considering any EVs there.
Thoughts?

Got my first EV.
E-Scooter lol - got the Segway P100S. It is SWEET!! So fun - maybe too much fun. I am kinda kicking myself for not getting one sooner. I rode it to work the other day (1.7 mile one way) - and had a grin on my face the whole time. Top speed is 30 which is plenty fast for the city.

I think a hybrid has it's use cases (trains, long haul trucking), but it's the worst of both worlds in a passenger car.
If youre not traveling all need is home charging if youre able to get it.
I think The US has set itself up better for EV ONLY because of Tesla. If they hadn't had the foresight and ambition to make their supercharger network, we wouldn't be in as strong of a position.

Very fair. If that didn't exist, EVs would have far less market share.

to buying something like that. It'd be like owning an Aztek?
