Yesterday, I drove the G37; My mini review(sorry no pics)
I got to Infiniti Of Lisle yesterday at about 1:00pm. They had a sample Red G37 couple outside for people to look at and drive. They had a waiting list, and people were signing up to try and get some cars, out of their first delivery.
Exterior: The car does look much better in person than it does in pictures. It was a bright red car with a spoiler. It had had really nice 19 inch wheels. The wheel gap, is really small. Maybe a two finger gap in the front, and one in the rear. The car does, look odd, from one angle, when looking at it from behind, but as a whole the whole thing looks pretty good.
Interior: This is very much improved. I think the car now has much more leg room for driver, and passenger. Head room is improved also(i'm 6' 1"). The nav system is really cool, with a nice back up camera feature. The ergononmics is much better, with the seat buttons, appropriately positioned. The seats are superb. My only grip, is that the rear visibility has gotten much worse.
Engine/Power: I took the car out for a spin, and it definitely hauled ass, but it around 90 degrees out, so that definitely affected power. You definitely felt, a smooth power deliver, but this car, could defintely benefit from a 6 speed auto, and some more torque.
Handling: The car handled well, but traction control was a bit too intrusive. The ride quality wasn't harsh at all, unlike the G35. It was smooth over rough roads, and the car has excellent grip. The car didn't come with 4 wheel steering. That was the only option missing.
Now I have driven the 335CI at a road course, set up by BMW, with professional drivers, and unfortunately, I feel that there is no comparison. Sorry guys, but the 335CI is just so much Faster, and handles, So much better, that it is in a class of its own. Still the G37 is a better car than say, the 328I, for the price. Although, I would advise wating for the demand on the G37 to come down a bit, because right now, it isn't a bargain, cus the dealership was asking for 45K for the auto! Guys feel free to stop by infiniti of lisle and test drive it, and add to this thread.

Yea, you said it very well, still a long long way behind the BMW 335i. Even though the G37 has more hp than the 335i, but it also carries an extra 140kg, and with like 20-30lb/ft less torque, seems like Nissan should retune the engine and emphasize on low end torque rather than top end power. I believe from 0-100mph, the G37 is lagging the 335i by 1.6 second. While handling, simply different class. But still, good try from Nissan.

The pic posted looks exactly like the one I drove. Its proabaly the same car making its way around the infiniti dealerships! As for the comment on power;
Dynojet(sae)
BMW 335I 6spd: 276whp, 290wtq
G37 6spd: 287whp, 236wtq

bullshit review!
thanks for the short review. how was the transmission in manual mode? were shifts quick or were they pretty laggy? I know it's no DSG, but how does it fair for a traditional auto?

If its the same car thats pictured then it was a G37 sport, not a journey. Or do they all come with the "S" on the back?
Does the journey even come with 19s?
Does the journey even come with 19s?

I was at Infiniti of Lisle a few years ago, good sales people there, although their prices were kind of expensive.
Do they have any good deals you see on any year end closeouts of any 07 G35x sedans over there? If I could snatch a G35x for only 32K I'd be happy.

The big difference is the infiniti will let you hold a gear the lexus will not.

test drove one over the wkend as well...blk/blk 5spd with everything except 4was.
I agree, the 335 just felt a lot more powerful...but the infiniti was no slouch and IMO felt like it handled pretty well....my buddy just bought one in north carolina with 6mt, premium and navi for $40,xxx... that's a bargain compared to a similary equipped 335
I dont see y anyone would buy a 328 with the G starting at $34-35k
btw, here's a pic of a blk one....most likely what i'll be ordering soon

Thats a pretty good deal but for $5k more i rather have my 335i.
If the 335 handles better than the G37 then so would the 328. I rather have a 328 even if slower but better handling car. Then again the 328 can do the 1/4 around 14.8 so i dont really consider it that slow.
Would be a tough choice though.
Hows the steering feel on the G37? I really wanna drive one now.

I need to go drive both. Manual transmission or not at all.
It's too bad when I go alone in my school clothes and show up in my Integra the dealer salesmen don't even look at me twice. I wonder why. Next time I bring the 3.2 in for service I'm gonna try and test drive the new TL-S. No one in my immediate family owns a BMW or Infiniti though.

I searched for months all over and the best price i got was new for $49k equipped the way i wanted...and $45-46k for a used 335.
btw, steering feel felt good, tight and very responsive....again, not as good as the 335...335 feels like a dream but the infiniti isn't too far behind...as for interior, both myself and gf said the G looks nicer inside then the 335
u really can't go wrong with either car

The 335i sedan isn't bad. I like the looks a lot. Its just that the tail lights could have been improved a little. Plus the coupe looks so much more bad ass. Very sleek lines, I fell in love the first time I saw the coupe, a long time back, and still like it today. When I first saw the sedan it made my face squirm but it has slowly grown on me.

don't think the sedan's taillights will ever "grow" on me... if they did some coupe-esque tails on it, it would be FTW...

I find the G37 bashing/335 nut-hugging pretty comical. It's really bizarre how there is no compromise with you guys, and these two cars literally causes more drama then they are even worth.
