Y'all are going to call me crazy....finally pulled the trigger!
Like the title says, you guys may think i'm nuts for buying it with gas prices but i've been toying with this idea for years, with 2 dogs, a second child on the way and a home owner the wifey and I decided it was time......sooooooo
I bought the truck i've wanted since i was a little boy. I got a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Big horn. Its Inferno red, quad cab, 4x4, HEMI, and 61k on the clock. I acutally bought it back in Early march. I know dodge isn't the best, but i've loved these trucks since the '94 model came out. I'm a strong believer in if you take care of your car it will take care of you. So first thing i gave her a tune up (all 16 spark plugs, replaced the PVC valve) got all fluids changed including the rear diff, and gave her a bath.
So far I havent been able to resist the mod bug, so right now its got new tires Cooper Zeon LTZs 275/16/20 all terrains, KN drop in for now and bought a Diablo predator sport tunner currently running the 87 OCT Canned tune and have a rough country leveling kit i have not installed yet.
So far I LOVE IT! 345hp and 375ftlbs to start off with, the tunner claims 25-30hp on the 93 canned tune on their website, i don't think thats the case, but i can DEF feel a big defference with the tune. She def hauls ass!
Over all i love this truck, plenty of room for the wife and kid and the dogs, plenty of power and i've been getting around 19mpg on the hwy. I plan on putting a Volant CAI in and the wifey is buying me a Magnaflow exhaust for fathers day! Shes the best. The max is getting DD duties, but i can't stop driving my new baby! Just thought i'd share!

Nice pick up. I don't envy your fuel costs though!

I'm Asian, and I approve your truck.
Looks very nice man! Congrats!
Don't know why I really want to purchase the Raptor truck someday. Think I'm too skinny for trucks though.

I remember when those new style Rams came out back in the early 2000's. A buddy of my boss at the time rolled over to our work in his brand new one with the factory 20's and we were like "damn look at this thing!"

I say if it makes you happy and you can afford it, go for it and enjoy the heck out of it. Who cares what others say or think? It's your money and your pleasure so I say good for you.

Yeah i was getting about 17-18mpg (hwy) before the Diablo sport tuner, since i've been getting around 19/ 19.5. Mixed driving with about a 60/40 split hwy/city i'm around 14/15. On the freeway its not so bad, but around town it def eats it up. Its hard to keep your foot off the gas too!

Thank you. Frankly, its not, and might never be. I can't fully disclose because of the agenices involved. All i can say is it involves my 5yr old son/ and a close family member and some VERY inappropriate behavior on the family members part.....my wife and I have not slept in 4 days. As my wife said to me the other night "you think your life is perfect...then the devil comes waltzing on in".
