i narrowed down my new car choices to 05G35C and 05 STI
so i was browsing around on the wrx forum...
i dont get it... how could a car that is NOT light with 210 awhp do low-mid 13s stock. even with AWD it still dont make any sense to me.
Stock STI has 300 HP and 300 Torque at the crank.

AWD = 25% drivetrain loss on a good day. 300 - 25% = 225whp. 210whp is about 30% loss, which is within the realm of averages for awd drivetrains. The reason they run low/mid 13's is because they can launch so awesome (1.7 60's), other than that they are nothing special. A botched launch in an STi or EVO = mid 14's because they only run ~ 99-102mph.
I raced one (STi) from a street roll in my Mustang and he only put on a fender by 90mph, where I let off. The guy couldnt believe I didnt have a blower or nitrous, nope just $800 in power mods in a 10yr old dated technology bucket of bolts.

edit: Looks like that may not be the best example because he had mods and its on a Mustang Dyno (do they make awd Dynojects?).

Looks like WRX's put down about 180whp, so 80hp more than the WRX = 300flywheel hp = 250whp, so I'de say a safe guess is between 235-245whp for a stock STi.
