Hell no, not if you ever plan on selling it. Only if you have cash, are getting a superb deal, and plan on keeping it forever then selling it for 5 bucks 20 years from now. Banks will not give loans on salvage title cars generally speaking. Not to mention you have no idea how destroyed it really is.

the usual person will say no. the thing is most cars have been in accidents that you dotn know about. the only difference about salvage cars is that the insurance has paid them off. treat em as you would any other car you must check em up and down and just get a history of what happened. obviously it gives you a hell of a deal, i;ve personally bought two salvage vehicles i bought my first gen salvage two years ago for 4000.00 with only 40k!!!!!! and most cars once they are inspected dont get salvage title but a Reconstructed title. in the end its all to how the car really is, but dont let the fact thats its salvage turn you away, i just hate the fact how people automatically assume salvage means it was destroyed and put back together. and that their cars have had bigger accidents and just not reported.

yes for a project car. just because its a slvg title car dosent mean there is frame damage or any thing really that wrong with it. my boy had a civic hb and it was stolen for the second time and striped, but becuase the value of all that was take was greater than the value of the car the insurance company gave it a slvg title. he bought it back for like 100 bucks plus got the money from the insurance company for it being totaled

No. I'd never buy a salvage titled car. You'll be stuck with it forever...

There was a 87 Porsche 911 forsale in the city I work in. It had a CLEAN title. Was on autotrader since June of 2003... Why didn't it sell ?? Cause there was a 20K mile decrepency on the carfax. Was a beautiful car, but the seller had a hard time selling it. The guy would still have it now if it had a salvage title.

The only reason I would buy a car with a salvage title was if I was going to part it out.

I did buy back my 78 VW Westfalia from my insurance company for $100 sfter it was totaled, but I parted it out and made a little under $2k off of it. It did still have a clean title too (I had negociated that as part of the deal).

It really all depends on what you want it for. If I found a really cheap car that drove and looked good that I wanted for a second car I would buy it if it had a salvage title.

Like everyone else said, don't pay very much money for it because you will probably have a really hard time getting rid of it if you ever want to.

The auction says it was salvaged, and he "washed" the title, so it's clean now. The fact that it was totaled and declared as salvage should still be on the carfax report tho'.

Just another case of "you get what you pay for".

Oh, and if you look at the sellers other auctions, he's got 2 other cars that have been in accidents...

Looks that this guy is buying wrecks cheap, fixing 'em up, and selling them with "clean" titles...

I just got back from the body shop and I asked the owner about buying salvaged cars. He said that he would consider buying one. However, he said to take it to a body shop and have them look it over for the quality of the repair. He also said that it is relatively easy to total out a car and give it a salvage title. He said if it reaches 70% of the cars bluebook, they total it. He also that you have to be careful with newer cars with salvage titles because it takes a lot more $$ to total it. He stated he would not buy a flood damaged car. The electrical problems are impoosible to find and fix.

I have also heard that and know people that have had cars that have been under water. Nothing but problems and the car will never be the same.

I dont think I typically would buy one. I might get one from an auction or what not for parts if I needed them. I think I'd be too skeptical about it. But like red99 said, many cars have been in accidents you just dont know about it unless insurance is involved.

A) Sony Televisions > * PERIOD

B) You CANNOT trade in a car with a salvage title. dealers WILL NOT take it. And if you lie and they find out, you can be sued. I've watched it happen when I used to sell.

Buying a salvage is ok if youre going to, as mentioned, part it out. Or use it as a track/race car or something. Or never plan on selling/trading the car.

But there is a reason cars with salvage titles are usually blacklisted.

i bought a rebuilt CL, which was previously a salvage title. the car was a theft recovery (airbags, interior, radio, misc engine parts were stolen). car is perfect! i ran carFax before buying. i've had it for about 18 months and the only thing that sux are the rattles!!! (knock on wood)

if buying salvage or rebuilt, i would take it to a mechanic, or dealer and pay the $20 for carFax...

i didnt have a problem getting the loan or insurance...

really really depends, i've had a few friends snatch steals on cars that were salvaged. They all were just thefts where cars were completely stripped.
