So i went to the VW dealer today. New jetta sedan looks great but WOW you really can tell where they cut costs in the interior. Its lost that soild German feel. Kinda sad. The Golf still has a great interior.

Ah forgot to congratulate the OP! Im jealous!

thanks guys!

I am loving the car so far. This is my first non-japanese car and my first car with some low end torque and it is pretty amazing!

I am still getting use to driving a slush box, but the DSG tranny isnt too bad. I also do miss some of the features of the TSX (dual zone climate, homelink, leather, etc..), but overall I do believe it is a nice upgrade from my 04 TSX.

Make sure you step on the gas a bit and mess around with manual mode. When you're driving in D with light throttle it feels a little slushy, but put a little more weight on the fun pedal and it shifts much faster.

IMHO the Jetta exterior is refined and looks quite good, almost "elegant"....the interior however from what I hear is a let down.

It's a little bland inside and out. Sat one at the auto show and was pretty disappointed. I liked their ads though!

Agreed. I liked the exterior styling. It sure doesn't look like a cheap car from the outside.

If I put it in the nice way, it's like bland version of A4, which is not a bad thing I guess.

My significant other will driving it too for the next few years and she can not and will not learn how to drive a manual.

Another reason I did not opt of the 6spd in the TDI is because it isnt comparable to a manual of a Honda/Acura. I was just spoiled by the shifter in my TSX. The TDI shifter/clutch isnt too bad, but it is no Honda....

Really? Are the TSX and TL 6spds different? I've read the TL's clutch being not-so forgiving.

Yep, this is what I've thought as well. Looking forward to test driving it.

Dont get me wrong, the clutch/shifter in the TDI/GTI are very nice. Probably among the best in the industry. I am not sure about the clutch/shifter in the TL, but the clutch in the TSX is very very nice. The TSX clutch/shifter however is a notch above the the GTI/TDI IMO.

I love the car! It is my first German car and its totally different than all the Japanese cars that I have owned so far.

First, the torque on this thing is incredible, it just pulls and pulls. Even though it only has 140 hp, it feels every bit as fast or faster than my 04 TSX.

The diesel engine is a little louder than traditional gas engines but it very smooth.

The build on the car is excellent. It is every bit as good as my TSX if not better. The one thing I cant help but notice is that it is much quieter at highway speed than the TSX. Japanese cars, at least the ones I have owned (Accords, Camrys, etc), are notoriously bad at keeping out road noise.

The only thing I regret is not opting for the 6sp manual. Having driven only manuals for the past 8 yrs, I thought an automatic would be welcomed in a traffic heavy city such as Houston.

I also find it a little "cool" driving a diesel and being "green." Lets just hope this little car can be reliable!
