Would an '11 Mustang V6 still be considered a girl car?

I've been eying the '11 Mustangs. Of course, I'd rather have the 5.0, but the 6 cylinder hits 60 in 5.1 seconds and looks virtually identical. I would surely be down for saving ~$5K and paying less for insurance.

Really? Afraid of getting a car because it's a "girl's car"?
I see a ton of women driving TLs, especially the Type-S. Must be a chick car. Hell, actually.... when I think about it, the TL is more of a chick car than the Mustang is. Insecure much?

Hey, if you like the car, it doesn't matter if it's a chick car or a big truck or this or that. Enjoy the drive!

I'd have a hard time with it if I knew that 400+ hp 5.0 was right there for the taking. I mean I was cool with a 3.5 liter 350Z, but that was only because there was no 5.0 liter offered. Know what I mean?

S A CHO has both an old Fox body 5.0 and an SHO Taurus, neither of which I'd consider girls' cars. He's ordered a 2011 Mustang.
I don't consider it a girl's car, because now it actually has the performance to back it up, and real car enthusiasts will appreciate that. The older Mustangs were girl's cars because they were bought almost solely by girls that only wanted to look fast, but not actually be fast. All the car enthusiasts went for the GTs because they were the only ones with respectable performance.
Heck, if the 2011 V6 is a girl's car, then so is a Gallardo.

No.
The true enthusiast buys whatever he/she wants and suits their needs. Get whatever car you want and enjoy it.

There is always the appearance factor as well. Some may deny it, but I think everybody wants to avoid unwanted stereotypes, no matter how much you may believe you don't care.

What everyone else said.
It's a great car, not a girl car.

We've modded a 2011 V-6 Stang in the shop, and let me tell you, It's no girl's car. At the time we were prototyping a set of headers for the car. The car with headers, high flow cats, cat back, intake and a tune was sick. It sounded exotic, almost italian exotic. Not to mention the car went from running a 13.6 to a 12.9 on street rubber. Thats crazy for about $1500 in mods on an auto tranny.

Nope, not at all. Seeing how my next car will most likely be a Mustang, I seriously considered it. I just can't pass up the V8 sound . Otherwise, I'd get the six; save the money, save the weight, save the gas.

Impressive.
Just doesnt seem right to hear that type of sound out of a mustang.
Its like hearing a lambo with an pushrod v8 shoved in it.
American muscle should always have a rumble. IMO

That was uncalled for...
I knew my name would've come up atleast once I actually sent my salesman an e-mail this morning because it's been exactly 2 months since I ordered my 2011 V6 You can follow my thread here: https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/i-think-im-ordering-v6-mustang-week-787817/
Listen, there are those that will think Mustangs only come in one flavour, with a V8 (Jesal), and there are those that can appreciate the less expensive, yet still respectable options (everybody else )
I think last years V6 was an absolute girls/secratries/sorostitute car. The 2011 I think changes that. When I tell people that I ordered the 2011 V6 at first they're like "Oh......that's cool" then I mention that it's got the new 305hp V6, that gets 31mpg and they're like "Holy shit..."
Don't get me wrong though, I'd still love a 5.0

Yes. At the end of the day, it's still just a V-6 Mustang.
Edit: Personally...I'd rather have a '09 GT than a new V-6.

2010+ Interior is night and day to the 2005-2009 interior. If you're not getting a 2011 V6, the car to get is the 2010 V8. Which is still a few grand more than a 2011 V6...

I mean if you're gonna go balls out and buy a brand new car, just get the one that talks to you (within financial reason obviously.) Don't talk to us about $5k, slightly better insurance rates and slightly better fuel economy...all of that is background noise compared to choosing the car that really makes you feel like a rockstar when you drive it. I think that's the difference between a long lasting and satisfying ownership experience (many years), and a car you get bored with and sell in 12 months only to start the process over again.
It's tricky mind business being happy with your choice when you're a real car guy because you like them all. I'm sure Jesal could tell you all about it.

Actually, there is no reason to buy a 2010 Mustang of either flavor; the 2011 engines are that much better. I never understood why anyone bought a 2010. You had to be living under a rock to not know the 2011's were getting new engines. I can find news with the specs of the V8 as far back as December 2009; news that there was a new V8 coming was widely publicized long before that.

You know, I have thought of previous V6 Mustangs as girls' cars.
Not this one. This car is NO slouch. I'd be proud to own (and knowing me, mod) one....and use the $5k saved for private school for my son.

Yes, but I take it that because the OP asked this question, he's worried about what people might think (i.e. GT and Cobra owners). Some people (myself included) are just not impressed by a V-6 in a muscle/pony car. There's no replacement for displacement.

By the way, if I "only" had $32-33k to spend and wanted a new Mustang, I would have no hesitation to buy the V6.
Yes, historically the Mustang V6 has been a pile of shit and lots of chicks have bought one. But the 2011 is not the same car.
I'd get one in a heartbeat if I had the money.

I also would never consider the V6 Mustang even though I know its vastly improved over the last one. I just can't buy the "base" model of any car. I want it to be top of the line and fully loaded!
