The Internet has decided -- YouTube user seanatfftec is in the running for Coolest Dad Ever.
Dad earned the title after documenting a project he worked on with 5-year-old son Evan. The pair gave Evan's Lightning McQueen Powerwheel -- a toy he got for Christmas back in 2009 -- a massive update. On YouTube, seanatfftec explained:
"We decided to upgrade the oem plastic wheels to metal rims with rubber tires. From that point more modifications were added every few weeks. Now, Evans Lightning McQueen Power Wheel is equipped with an aluminum back half chassis, dual sealed gel batteries with an output of 24 volts, a 500 watt .66 horsepower electric motor, disk brake, throttle modulated variable speed control with reverse and sparco battery cut off switch."
The resulting video is an an adorable montage that ends with Evan speeding away -- dad included "before footage" of Evan driving to show off how much faster and smoother the ride is now. Naturally, the background music is perfect too. "We chose the song 'Real Gone' by Sheryl Crow because it was the opening song of the Disney movie 'Cars,'" Dad wrote.
As for his competition in the race for Coolest Dad of 2012, the editors at Viral Viral Video can't decide whether the winner should be seanatfftec or the dude who built his daughter a 12-foot roller coaster in their backyard. Frankly, we're stumped, too.
Here's a link to the YouTube video, definitely worth the watch.

Very cool Dad indeed.
when me and my brother were kids, my parents got us a bigfoot and tonka truck power wheels. my dad ripped out the small batteries and in the back of the beds of each power wheel mounted a massive deep cycle car battery.
With the crappy plastic tires the tires would spin on the pavement and then go, those things hauled ass and would charge in 15 minutes because we used a car charger.
