Woot, finally got the...
...title to my car in the mail today
Finally I can live life for a few months without payments
At 43,xxx miles, the car has been a hell of a good car. Biggest malfunctions were a leaking CV Boot (normal in FWD), the dealer replaced a whole axel because that was easier. The other was a throttle body sensor that caused the engine to spudder at idle and the dealer replaced the whole throttle body
Next is a transmission flush, and new brakes/rotors all around. Then it'll be good to give to my parents I was thinking of selling it but its been so good to me that I might as well keep it in the family 'til its demise.
This is the only picture I could find...
And now back to your regularly scheduled program...

Niiiiiice. That's pretty low milage to have it paid off. Are you giving it to your parents or selling it to them?

Its almost as if my pockets got bigger, haha.
Most likely an R53 MCS JCW (MINI Cooper S, John Cooper Works), if I get lucky and find a GP at a good price I might go that route.
Yeah, I dont drive it much. Well considering I paid for it using my dads credit, I might give it to them and ask them to somehow work something out with my next car. I was paying my mom and in turn she was making the payments for my dad since she handles all the bill-paying. So I accumulated absolutely no credit The problem is that they have massive payments on an '08 King Ranch F-350 now so I'm tossing around the idea of asking them to take equity from the mortgage and pay for the MINI in cash.
My mom is in desperate need of a better DD, she has been driving around a '99 Suburban, and doesnt need all that room. But my dad refuses to sell it because that truck has also been running like a champ all these years, no malfunctions.

Drive that car until you run it in the ground. I love new cars too, but new car payment??? Ehh, not so much.
I have intentions on driving my TSX for at least 200K. We'll see how it goes. I'm 1/4 of the way there.
I just calculated it, and if my driving habits were to stay the same, I will be at 200K in about 7 years. (I'm on track to average 20K a year)

Its gotten boring, I want something smaller with stiffer suspension, better handling, faster cornering, a little more character. I'm also looking at getting into auto-x. I dont necessarily need something faster just a little more fun. The Accord has been good to me, the sway bars made a world of a difference but its still "just an Accord" for lack of better words. I thought about getting a LGT but I'd still be carrying 2 doors I dont really need right now.

I'll watch my mom run it to the ground instead, haha. If I was looking for a reliable "point A to point B" car (not to say the MINI isnt reliable) then I'd keep it but I just dont have any interest in modifying this one to get what I want.

I'm so looking forward to no car payment. I have 3yrs left but with the budget I made it will be paid in 1.5yrs. I have learned there are better, more important things in life than changing cars all the time. I love my car as of now and I'll prob get a new one 3 or so years after it's paid off.

if you want to build credit since you have none, have your dad or mom cosign on a loan with you, put the title in you dads name. then all u have to do is make payments to the company from your bank account, and walla you now have credit, just don't miss a payment bc you'll mess up yours and her parents. after 12 months of proof of paying it's technically your car. this is a better option then having your parents pull out equity out of their house, since house values have been steadily declining, and then paying them. if anything your putting them and yourself in a worse position bc you build no credit and your parents mortgage payment goes up.
that's what my parents did for me so i could build credit and get an excellent rate by my father cosigning for me. the payment gets withdrawn from my bank account automatically since i set it up like that, build credit early and young, credit means a ton today.
