Why RSX-S dynoed at only 157 HP...

So that means a drop of %20+ or more for the stick shift... is it so bad or is this the auto SS....?

That has got to be the manual, being that the auto has 160 hp. That is a bad drivetrain loss though. Not horrible, but not as good as a brand new manual should be. Hopefully the Cl will fair a little better.

Thats at the wheel HP. The 200HP is at the engine. The horsepower wont change if its a stick or manual.

GS-Rs stock would baseline around 144hp to the wheels.

WTF are you talking about? Learn something about cars before you post in Car Talk.

Of course horespower changes whether you ahve a manual or an automatic. An automatic tranny parasites more power than a manual, mainly because you have the TC and fluids in there.

The "rule of thumb", across most all car brands/types, is that a manual will take 15% of crank hp and an automatic, 18-20%.

If the 200 hp RSX is dynoying 157, either the engine is overrated, or the tranny is sucking up more than a typical manual tranny does. I vote overrated engine.

I still hope to see 225 fwhp from the CLS 6sp, hopefully it will be there.

I figure the auto vs. manual debate is pretty much moot in this case since the rsx type s only comes as a six speed manual...

I don't know where you're getting your info from but the RSX-S does not dyno at 157 hp. Here is a dyno proving that it's around 173-175 hp.

That's not stock. That's with an exhaust and plugs.

If one RSX-S type-S dynoes at 157fwhp do all dyno at 157fwhp? Not likely....Don't make generalizations from a small sample.....

Have a look ... looks like 157 is about 10HP off ... by the way - nice gains from the AEM CAI

The RSXS that dynoed at 170hp would then be losing 15% at the wheels. Not bad.

With that type of loss taken into consideration, the CLS would be putting down 221hp stock. Nice.

First of all, this discussion was on dyno results, not advertised crank horsepower. Tranny type and drivetrain loss is very important to that discussion.

Second of all, they don't even make an auto in the RSX-S, so the crank hp is different as well between an auto and manual.

Yeah...well when we dynoed the RSX for the members up here...one of them was crying when we dynoed his and he got about 157 and then some other member cried when we found that his AEM made less power than the Dragon Filter.....they kept saying the dyno was rigged.
