Why do we spend xtra $?

so after reading through this forum ..I notice most like to mod out their cars and the rest dont ..We and i say we because i am one of those people that like to make the car not only look but drive better also..we go out and spend countless dollars on adding to the car yet on the other hand lowering the cars value at the same time.and in some cases spending more money to do something to the car that makes us end up spending more money later down the line ....What is it that drives us to do such things? anybody? I am def considering next time i go out to by a car and that will most likely be YEARS YEARS from now unless i come up on some major bread ..that i will be going all out and getting a car that comes standard with high horsepower ,already low enough that it doesn't need to be dropped, have big wheels already on it ..just pretty much everything on it that i would otherwise go spend extra money on anyway that wont void the factory warranty ......and will keep the car at its proper retail return value

^shieeet, you'll end up modding the high performance vehicle.

Its a breed of person.
some are A to B people, and the others want to constantly modify.

Keyword Modify.

People just like to tinker with things.

Its called a hobby.

I have no problem modding a car then putting it back to stock. Doesnt hurt resale that way and most buyers/dealers have no clue.

to fight conformity.

- because what good is having "your" car if you dont put a little bit of yourself into it?

- the money issue, it would be spent elsewhere if i didnt put the cash into my car..

- i come from a gear head family where several cars in the driveway and more in the garage was normal...

- because having the same exact car inside and out as 50,000 other people just isnt fun....

Because this is how my car looked when I first bought it: Like every other TSX you see on the road....

And this is how it looks now: Unique.

It's basically an expression of yourself. Like Rockstar21 said, what fun would it be to have a car if you don't put a bit of yourself in it? You woud spend that money anyways on something else. Why not put it into something that would make you look like a ?

I usually do couple mods and call it a day. Just because mine stands out a little amongst other cars on the roads.

I hate when people over-mod their cars though. I like keeping everything clean and tasteful at the same time.

not really into performance mods that can effect the reliability and such, just small things so i'm not driving the same car as some 50 year old lady. I'll probably even grow out of doing small things at some point. Right now I don't think there's a car on the market that doesn't look better a little lower, but I don't think my back will hold up forever

Hobby or can I say addiction? I "mod" to get stress off of my mind. I'd rather waste money on modding my car then drugs.

I am a mod addict. I bought a car that didn't need modding, and modded it anyway. Yes, I modded a 556 hp car with great-looking stock wheels. I need help!

So which way to Modders Anonymous?

I wonder if I will get into modding in the future. I can't really mod my acura because well its my parents and my dad doesnt want me doing that. So until I buy a car on my own I wont have a car to mod.

If I were to mod I think I wouldnt do that much. I'm not a fan of dropping a car, maybe a slight one, but I wouldnt do it unless I ACTUALLY knew I was gaining a performance advantage. I dunno why but I dont believe in dropping in a new set of springs for a couple hundred dollars will add to my handling. If I were playing with suspension for performance reasons, in my mind it would be expensive to make your car especially if its already sporty to make it better.

Basically because you want to and you can. I'm not into it any more--priorities shift and money isn't unlimited. Fancy/expensive parts for my car are pretty far down there on the list for me these days, next to the Rolex and other luxury non-necessities of little everyday value.

Its either in you or not. Some have a good eye for this and some dont.

Its just a reiteration, but I love watching my car come together or anything for that matter.

My other car was modded, my bike was modded, my Tl is modded and im trying to get my hands on my wifes car too.

I'm a fan of subtle mods that make a drastic difference without actually making the car look drastic, if that makes sense
