I guess few CL-S have beaten an M3 in a drag race.

 

I beat a 96 M3 in a drag race. I asked him to dump his 2 passengers but he wouldn't. 2 races and 2 kills that night.

I can! I beat my friends 97 auto like a stepchild. He will beat in the twisties, because his car handles like it's on rails. The CL-S with headers, and CAI will blow your doors off.

 

Now I know why people keep complaining that the CLS needs RWD, 350HP, and handling like a Porsche. We keep trying to compare it to an M3! Remember crew .... keep it in scope.

 

It can only beat a M3 w/o manual tranny though, don't forget that.

yea I raced a M3 off the line, he was ahead at first, but for some reason when i hit 2nd gear I pulled hard. So who knows, maybe that guy just didnt know how to drive the stick M3, cuz i saw his car jerk back bad in his 2nd gear. Honestly, with an auto M3, I think the CLS with headers and CAI will take it. But not by much.

 

You are right 1/4 an M3 will win. Why you say, because its RWD, and can hit 60ft in 2.0 if not better. Our cars can barely do 2.2.

According to www.car-stats.com , an automatic M3 from '96 does sixty in 6.7 and the 1/4 mile in 15.3. Compare that the 6.4 and 14.8 respective ratings for the stock CLS.

Its just the model code for BMW 3 series dating from the 92-99 model year. The mid 99 redesigned 3 series is now the E46.

I took an E36 M3 in Santa Monica about a month ago. I had 1 other person, and he had one other person. It was a white coupe 6 speed. I beat him by about 2 car lengths. When we pulled up at the next stop light, he was very surprised...and asked me what I had done to my car, and I replied, "It's stock" and he just laughed and drove off.

If that M3 was equipped with a 6 speed conversion you would have been toast. obviously the M was not racing you.

 

Especially if your had your 19"s on your car. That guy is probably not good enough to drive stick or wasn't racing you.

I've got a friend who just got a '97 M3 5-speed and was hitting 0-60 in 6.xx seconds w/ the G-Tech (coudlnt drive worth shit). After we gave him a few pointers and showing him how to shift, we got the 6.0 seconds to 5.2 seconds on the 0-60.

Shows how much of a difference it makes to have a good driver.

 

a cl-s with intake and headers will beat an m3 auto 4 sho .....................even though ive beaten a many m3 from 95's to 99 's model years (stick or auto) with my cl-s (3.5 upgrade)i know that a cl-s with just headers and intake will no way take a manual
