They stockers... stock to the bone... the only thing they do is take the ECU block off or whatever prevents cars from going faster then 130 when your speedo reads 160+ etc... and they do have (not turbochargers) superchargers...

other then that... the only mod they have that makes them faster then you or anybody else... even though they are going 65mph through a chase... its... ... ... their radio... you'll never, ever been that thing... by the time you arrive at the next city... all of that cities PD's have already been notified of you or anyone running... Their radio frequencies are so strong... and i know because i've been on a few ride alongs (not in the back seat ) if the CHP is in So.Cal... the radio can reach Nor.Cal units... old technology but it works...

other then that... they have recruited some powerfull cars... like corvetts... BMW's (their motorcycles)... Camero's... Lambo's... Porche's... etc...

310hp Camaros with no speed limiter that top out at 160 and and BMW R1100 motorcycles that have 90hp and can do 0-100km in 4.3 seconds.

Currently Ford does not offer any kind of upgraded engines for the crown vics, they only get heavy duty suspension upgrades. Now that chevy has re-introduced the Impala SS with the supercharged v6 you might be seeing those introduced as squad cars.

Actually i just checked and not yet 2005 is still the standard 3800, but even with that those impalas can hit 129

Its a bit off the topic but I've seen black camaros in Indiana(especially highway around Indianapolis....I75, I65 etc..) with no marking AND smoked out glass that you cant even see their patrol lights inside. Scary as s**t when you seen them running near you while going around 80mph on 65mph.

Same in Cali. Police package Camaros. Available only to law enforcement. Not a bad package. Of course, CHP only has a handful of these. The rest are standard Z28s.

And the the majority of Crown Vics are just stock with the police package, which includes a transmission cooler, bigger radiator, and beefed up suspension. However, I know there was some provision a while ago to get CHP a handful of the supercharged Mercury Marauders as cars. Don't know if that ever happened though.

FL has tons of these. I guess they got them on special for the last year. They need them. I do 90+ on the FL turnpike & cars zoom by me. No way the CV's could keep up. There's a lot off I have driven by in Orlando where they keep all the cars. 90% are the Camaros.

FL does have a few of the supercharged Mercury Marauders
Also a few Dodge Magums with the 5.7L V8
As well as some 04 Mustang Cobra's

a lot of cops around here have went to Front wheel drives. Like Chevy Impalas, and Dodge Intrepids with the 3.5 liter motor. I asked one(because I'm a firefighter and sometimes we talk) about the "get up and go." they said they shut down a side street with a couple stoplights on it and it ran even with the crown vic.

You're wrong. All 98-02 V-8 F-Bodies are LS1 Powered cars. Also i have an uncle that drives a Camaro Unit for the NY State Troopers. His "interceptor" Package is merely a Camaro SS without the hood scoop. The SS package has slp shocks, springs, front and rear larger sway bars, strut tower bar, slp lid and slp exhaust. The "interceptor" package in essence is just the SS package on the Camaro or WS.6 on the Formula/Trans Am. Now the 93-96's were real interceptors. They had the same slp suspension work from the SS's, but the key ingredient of those cars were the LT4 and LT6's outta the ZR-1 and Grand Sport Corvettes. Hope this helps.

Agreed, to a certain extent.

The B4C group (police model) was a stripped down Z28 of the civilian version with some suspension work and whatnot. But it didn't come with the SS package such as 1LE (Bilstein) suspension. And yes, they all came with the LS1 engine, much the same powertrain as the Vette.

For 93-97, they had the LT1, not the LT4 or the LT5 (what the hell is an LT6?).

I don't know why people hype about police cars. They are not that special. Yeah, there's the occasional show cop cars, and sometimes a crazy-modified cruise, but not in masses. For example, my township has a black Z06 cruiser, and an orange Lotus Esprit. But other than those, we have stripped down Z28's with minor work done, and Crown Vic's. The CV, besides some of the things mentioned above, they also have a different gear ratio for quicker acceleration.

Yup, and they rarely use radar. They just cruise in from an on-ramp and pace traffic. I do 50 miles a day on I-65/I-465.

They'll single out a car and run it down. Like a lion on a wildebeast...

Marauders are not supercharged. They have the 4v DOHC motor from the Mustang Mach 1. Standard Crown Vics have the basic 2v SOHC 4.6.

2v 4.6 V8 in the Vic = 250hp, 287 tq
4v 4.6 V8 in the Merc = 302hp, 318tq

Merc = 4200lbs
Vic = 4050lbs

They must have forgot where the gas pedal is on the Crown Vic. It's slightly faster than the Impala (around a second 0-60), and the RWD gives it a better launch from a stop - The Impala will spin the tires quite a bit. On the highway the Vic will leave the Impala behind. The Dodge is no match for either one. The only thing the Vic is worse at is braking, both of the other two show it up by about 10ft from 60mph.

The FWD V6s are simply cheaper cars and are cheaper to operate (gas usage).

Believe it or not, Dodge is marketing the 3.5L V6 Magnum as the police model, and it's designated "Not designed for high speed or pursuit driving".

The Marauder FHP patrol cars in FL are rumored to have aftermarket superchargers on them; I haven’t seen one in person so I don’t know for sure if they do. But they’re mainly used for cracking down on aggressive drivers on FL highways.

It's quite possible, there are QUITE A FEW Vortech supercharged Vics lurking around in many states. If you get on the right site, you can see some of them. Mean, mean suckers...

I was heading back from a cruise driving to Atlanta from Miami back in '91. I saw some headlights coming up fast behind us. It was the middle of the day on the turnpike and I was just suprised about the headlights being on in what appeared to be a low slung car.

I was shocked when he passed us. It was a FHP in a new Corvette and he was moving. I suspect he was cruising at close to 140 MPH.

I agree with you, its just that my uncle's cruiser had the 1le and gu5 codes on the door meaning he had the bilstein suspention and 3.23 gears. I am just going by what i was told by the guys at the trooper barracks in NY.

Found some pics of them; according to FHP they have 18 Marauders that was donated by someone.
