When is the next 3 series out?

I love the 3 series, its a dime a dozen and just 230hp and 200 torque but in magazone comparsions kills just about every higher HP car to cross it bath. But as car nuts more HP never hurts so I'm wondering when the next 3 series will be out? 09 maybe 2010. I dont want a 335i as I am not into turbo cars.

Dude, it just came out last year.

Based on the last model cycle I think it's more like MY2012.

Test drive the 328i and see if its fast enough for you. Its underrated so its not as slow as the power figures show.

I had a 328 loaner last week for 4 days. It was pretty quick. I wouldn't buy it (I like my 5 better) but it was still nice.

totally. 14.8 sec @ 95 mph for the entry level 3 series is fairly quick IMHO. It just happens that the 335i and M3 both happen to be insanely quicker.

While I agree that the 328 is quick enough, I still would have liked to see the 255HP NA 3.0L available.

G35 in almost every comparsion gets it butt whopped by the 328i. Unrefined is the word for the G35, I dont like to feel vibes in the shifter and clutch in a 35k car.

Get out the latest Car and Driver. 328i beat G35, MB, CTS.

Unrefined vs the 3 series isn't the same thing as unrefined.

Have you test drove one?

Magazine racing ftw!

Get a used E46 M3 if you want NA power. Or a 2006 330i.

Yes, I test drove the 05 G35 6 speed. the 08 G35 still has issues with its clutch and shifter sending out vibes.

in my opinion, i like to test drive cars myself before buying one instead of relying on magazine articles.

maybe that's just me.

I guess I don't get it then. You don't need a fast car but in your first post that's all you mentioned (HP)?

As far as things going wrong with the car, the funny part about that is it's the direct injection pump that's been causing a bunch of issues for the 335i, not the turbo, and you can count on seeing direct injection in most cars in the future. Issues can arise from just about anything, and so far, for the 335i, turbos have not been a weak point.

Funny you bring this up, mine started acting up last night, and I had to get it towed to the dealership this morning Just hit the 10,000 mile mark too.

On a side note, they gave me a 328 non sport-package loaner... I don't like it at all.

Yikes! mine was an early build (Sept 06) and I have had no issues at 17k miles. Shiv, the guy who sells the Procede, has over 20k I believe with no problems, and it certainly isn't due to being babied, so who knows.

Yeah mine was a late build (ordered from the factory May '07) so I thought I was going to be ok, but apparently I was wrong. I knew alot of people were having this issue though, so it didn't really shock me when it happened, it just sucks. Hopefully they fix it and get it back to me soon

The good news is that I don't think the pumps are backordered anymore so you should be back on the road in no time.

Yeah just about, good memory! I have a pretty long daily commute to work - about 50 miles roundtrip. I also insist on driving anytime I go anywhere because I love driving this car so much

Do you have any idea about what happened? 10 thousand miles in six months!! I bought mine way before yours and I just hit 8,500 kilometers! I didn't know the difference between the 328 and 335 would be that bad though!

The pumps are now stocked. Plus you don't need BMW authorazation anymore to get ahold of one so its now a one day operation.

I don't think the 328 is that bad. Sure its not as quick as a 335 in a straight line, but with the sport package they are pretty fun cars still. He had a loaner which are pretty stripped down.

Oh and BMW runs 7 year product cycles. So MY2013 is when you'll see the next sedan and MY2014 for the coupe and convertible. And last but not least MY2015 for the M3

Forget about that! It's the pump I thought this would be fixed for early 07 builds. I have an early production model as well (January 07) and I have yet to come across this fuel pump problem.Knock on wood.

To the OP.. why do you want a high HP car yet a slow 0-60? Im with zero on this.. I just dont understand your logic for this thread.. Also as a soon to be new 335i owner (just ordered it on sat ) Im very happy I made that choice. I have worked at alot of car dealerships and in turn gotten to drive alot of cars.. (I used to subcontract out thier paint work) I feel by far bmw is the best bang for your buck.. hence why I ( and quite afew others on this board) jumped onto the bwm side of the fence

Want a higher horsepower NA 3er that isn't fast 0-60...

Just get on the list for an M3 and when you get it fill the trunk with tungsten!

Really I don't get it, you aren't concerned with quickness but the 328 isn't enough? Drive the thing before you pass judgement it is a heck of a car.

it really makes no sense.. why worry about hp and all if you are not looking for a fast car.. who cars.. as for Turbo cars.. in this modern day factory turbo cars are very reliable. Now if you take an n/a car and put a turbo on it, thats where you can run into reliablility issues.. Also, with BMW's service plan for 4 years or 50k miles ALL FOR FREE i don't see how you could pass that up!?! And unless your going to spend around $100k for a car they are all a dime a dozen..

I'm sure with the sport package the difference wouldn't be as obvious, but no sport package + no turbos + auto tranny = world of a difference. Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice car, just not nearly as fun to drive as mine.

Congrats man! It's ridiculous how many people here are getting these things. And thanks for the compliment! I think the "loud" color of Montego goes well with the conservative styling of the sedan. So what all did you order? Body style, colors, options, trans?

I haven't driven any 7th Accords or E9Xs but I just drove a coworker's E46 323i yesterday and while the engine is nothing special it really has shown me the light. The gas and brake are very responsive, I would almost say touchy.... I don't have a heavy right foot at all, but I was revving up to 4k+ RPM sooner than I thought and stops were head-jerking. Thankfully I was alone in the car. It was kinda slow, but the shifter was one of the smoothest I've driven. Longer than average throws and soft clutch but still, it had short gears and it felt like stirring a fork in some hot mashed potatoes, compared to the rowing an oar through boulders feeling of the T56. Didn't have the sweet, thick steering wheels of BMW's M lineup, and the steering was too light for my liking, but it felt so slick to drive. Strange how they made a 323i and 325i though, but I dislike DBW greatly so I would prefer the 323i in day-to-day driving.

Just means I'll have to go out and drive an M3. I would disconnect the power steering pump, and live with DBW.... an even trade.
