Wheeler Dealers

I wouldnt go as far as saying it is AS entertaining as top gear but it defiantly is up there, I love the approach as they restore normal every day beaters in a way that anyone with the right set of tools and know-how can accomplish as well.

Bringing an old thread back to life, I know most of us get to watch the old seasons through discovery channel but the newer seasons i.e. season 5 and 6 can be found on youtube. I

Sounds cool but i looked it up and on my cable service (Charter), it's only on "HDT" which is one of very few channels i don't get....seems to have a lot of cool car shows on that channel, though, auctions and whatnot
Great show, but I have to agree with some of you guys above, it seems as if Mike doesn't try as hard as he could to sell the vehicle for more of a profit. If only it was on more often, with more cars that were also sold in the U.S.
I love the show but what gets me is the fact that they are always sitting on the hoods. They just finish a car and they plop there ass right down on the hood. Maybe it's an English thing.
I LOVE this show and have had my DVR set up to tape all of them, new or re-runs, for the past year or so. The only thing is it's definitely not realistic as far as how a dealership would fix up a car and sell it, but it's entertaining and I love seeing the mechanics of those older European cars, some of which we rarely or never see here in the states. And I can relate to Ed, myself being 6'3" and having had to squeeze into tiny cars all my life lol.
Lol another quarky thing about the show! I think the same thing when I see them sitting on hoods!

The show promotes DIY projects, Ed goes over every job and its difficulty level and mentions if its worth doing it yourself or hiring an expert. I guess the reason why they dont state Ed's labor is because they split all profits in half from the sale. I love watching this show as its so different from restoration shows that we have here state side such as Overhauling etc where they throw a ton of cash into a project to completely turn a clunker into a hot rod.

Wheeler Dealers tone actually reminds me a bit of the old shade tree mechanic diy show I grew up watching. They just fixed cars, well and advertised shop towels.
Love this show! DVR has been set for this for a while now. Besides coming to the US, the cool thing about this new season is that the shows are an hour long now.
Sometimes I think it is pretty funny when they put all this work into a car and only make a few hundred dollars.

Im glad they are hour long shows now.
Im sure if they werent on tv they could make much more money. But if I were a buyer and paid much more then what they put into it then saw it on tv, Id be pissed.

Why did you think you were a weirdo? This show is awesome! I love it because they fix up old European cars, which you rarely ever get to see on other shows. Plus, being into older Bimmers, I was instantly attracted to seeing how other European cars could be maintained and brought back to life.
I LOVE this show! I'm kind of glad they don't fix the cars up and then try to rape people on the price. They don't really restore the whole car, just fix the things that need the most attention so it can be on the road a few more years. I am glad they made it an hour long now, so I don't have to remember to watch part 2 of the build. My only complaint is that they don't seem to do a full detail on these cars when they finish them. On some of the shots they show when the vehicle is done, there is almost always mud on the tires and fenders. I think if they just spent a little more time on a professional detail it would get them an extra 1-200 quid...
What was the name of the show that had the Arab looking guy that did crazy body work and the old English guy that did the mechanical work?? They were always fight but did some interesting work..I loved that show.
Drives me nuts that they NEVER clean up the engine or ANYTHING they work on. If it was covered with grease and oil when they started...it will still be covered when done.
I like a clean engine bay.

Yeah sure the engine's still greasy, but what about that sweet open element air cleaner and nice chrome bits they put on to distract your attention away from the dirt.

It was called Chop Shop. They would build some outrageous cars, but they always looked poorly done.
