Wheel rims on bimmers

Folks,

Have you noticed how the wheel rims on most bimmers turn black and dusty. Any idea why?? Ive seen this happen on many bimmers and it is very noticable. Never saw the rims get that bad on other cars.

Just curious,
THanx.

The use of the term "wheel rims" is redundant, they mean the same thing. As far as I know, there should be no difference in the rate BMW wheels dirty to that of other cars. One possible theory might be heavier braking due to more aggresive driving resulting in more brake dust? I dunno just a thought.

Not sure what car you have tomhanx but my 2004 6MT TL makes brake dust like no other. After washing my car, the wheels get dark in just a day or two

BMW's are the worst. their brake pads just give out an insane amount of dust. I used to run a car wash, and believe me, BMW's are the worst. They do differ from other cars.

Having gone from my TL to a 540, there is an astronomical difference in Brake Dust, and I am a fanatic about keeping my car clean.

The pads on the BMW just produce way more dust than most other pads out there. One week with the BMW looks worse than 1 month with the Acura. It really does build up that quickly.
