What are your thoughts on the new Volvo S60

Looked at it yesterday, didn't drive it yet. But it looks pretty nice, feels nice inside too.

Can we keep this in here for a little bit

Just so we have more suggestions...then I suppose it can be moved.

Test drove an S60 before settling on the CL. Found it to be so-so...

For that price, have you considered an Infiniti G35 sedan or coupe?

ccannizz1, thanks for posting the pic.

Looks kind of bland to me. Nothing real exciting about it.

Tony is an old man... G35 is too young for his grandpa image.

ass...I like the G35 Sedan...but I found it very uncomfortable at 6'3" with long legs and big feet. Pedals were to close together as well.

Oh and no such luck with that other stuff, I'll hit you up on AIM later on today.

Did you look at the S60, S60 T5, or the S60R? I was out in a T5 and it was a nice car, I would definately look at the S60R, but not sure it is in your price range.

I really want to keep my next car under $40K.

So it would be the S60 T5 AWD with navi I think sticker on it was like $36K

I'd really like to keep it around $32,000 at best. But I know that will be tough to do.

and if I decide to lease, I want to be no more than $500 a month with $2K down

that puts you around a $35-37K car, depending on residual.

I see no reason to spend a ton of money on a car.

I want a payment that I don't even have to think about...not something I have to move other things around to make.

The pic above is of the R. It is a good car, but a little pricey for what it is. The shifter is weird, not bad nor good, just wierd. The interior is typical Volvo, nothing extraordinary-exept that is, the two fun leather interiors that they have-the blue metallic one and the "baseball-esque" one. It is a good car, and can be modded for cheap, but is just not worth the initial cash outlay. I decided on the TL over it.

it's an option as well

I can't decide at all

and I know whatever I get i'll become sick of very shortly

which is why i'd like to keep it as low as possible

they will give me a TL with nav on lease for 475 a month $1,500 down

I'm sure I can work that down though.

A TL would be a good pick however I'd take the S60R over the G35 or G35X for the simple reason I think it looks better.
the rolled in curves near the window on near the doors remind me of my trusty good old 94 Honda Accord.
a guy last year in my SCCA OVR region got a S60R it was a FUN car. I forgot what class he ran Solo2 in but I remember for it being stock it was a great car.
also I know I'll get flamed for this have you considered a Saab 9-3 or 9-5. They get GREAT mileage and have good HP. their styling could use some work. but it's an idea.

I believe they are too small...my friend had the last Gen Saab and I could not fit in it very well...I don't know if they updated the interior room though.
Nice cars though...gosh I feel like a middle aged Jewish guy from my town looking at Volvos and Saabs.

The TL is probably the best choice it seems. If I decide to go new, and want to keep it under $40K

my moms got a 04 9-3 arch convertable, its got cool toys like the key goes in the center council all this crap but i think the car is a piece of junk.. it has an auto-manual deal going on and its not like the TL/CL at all, it shifts SLLLOOWWW, the only positive i can see in the car is, nice rim/tire set up, projectors, TURBO.. definatly do not buy that car..

Saab reliability is piss poor. DO NOT GO SAAB. I have yet to find someone who hasn't spent a shitload of money to maintain one.

And Saabs depreciate SOOOOOO bad. There are several moderate mileage 01 9-3 verts going for mid-teens around here in central NJ. Very ironic considering they MSRP similar to an E46 vert when new.

Fortunately, Volvos arent nearly as bad in that department.

The S60R with the sport package and a 6-speed is a really attractive and really quick car. I saw one yesterday in red and I was really impressed, it does not give off the impression that is just a normal S60 T5 at all. The wheels on that car really make the whole thing stick out.

Th S60 looks nicer in real life than in pics. But I do question the price...the interior is just a little too plasticky. If I'm not mistaken, the S60 sits in the Volvo family like an E-Class in the Mercedes family...it's the mainstream midsize sedan, not the flagship, but its interior is more like entry level luxury.

IMO, it's merely "OK". I wouldn't take anything but the 2.5T or the R though. The naturally aspirated 2.4 is ass.
