What would YOU go with??? another car buying thread....MB,BMW,Lexus?
I narrowed my search down to 2001-2003 MB e320 , 2002-2004 IS300 , Maybe BMW 530i/540i
since the tl is falling apart on me ill still have it for a couple months while i fix it up and sell it.
I'm stuck, love all the cars the 530i only the interior kills it for me but i can easily live with it.
Here are my choices (also reliability should be fairly good since it will be a dd for about 6 months.)
530i/540i 01-03
IS300 02-04
MB E320 01-03(03 more likely)
IN my area these go between 15-23k with about 45-75k miles. My search will take me a few months since i want a white one.
What are some of the pros and cons?

i've narrowed all the cars down the IS300 seems the best all around most of all the reliability seems the best.

on to the next one...
If you feel your 03 Acura is already "falling apart" on you, I wouldn't expect much better from an equally old or even older car, but I WOULD expect much higher maintenance costs for zee German cars...

i drove all the cars for 3-4 days the 530i was great all around and overall they seem pretty reliable for what it is the interior feels a bit outdated the cup holders suck other then that it was alright.
The is300 felt a bit small(nothing i cant live with) and just a little girly, but i really liked the way it drove and most likely would end up being my DD.
The e320 i loved everything about it. What i read up so far it the e320 is pretty reliable as long its not the sports package with the air suspension. But when something breaks its going to cost a bit. This would be my DD for up to six months then It would be more of a weekend car after i fix the A4.

On that note, i'd go for the 5 series if its out of those 3...Wouldn't really consider the IS in the same class as the other two.

-both axles are going out one is already torn and clicking
-Rattels and squeaks are annoying as hell
-almost at 100k so will need to do that service
-an oil leak of some sort (went to shop 1 and 2 nothing found) but yet i can smell oil inside the car after about 30 mins

No mention of BMW from Saintor?
but I would take the 540i with the 6-speed manual, no less. The E39 has always been one of my favorite sedans, its a no-brainer over that new Bangled E60 to me, even. 2nd would be the IS300 and the MB isn't even on my list

The 540I is iffy for me out of 5 people that i know that owned the 540, 3 with 6 speed the other two where auto's. 4 of them had nothing but problems with the engines I'm not saying they all do but thats a little more then i like to hear about.
on the other hand the 530i there are many that i have talked to and say it's a solid engine and car. I'm leaning more for the 530i with the sports package just because it's allot easier to find parts for them after market and oem.

I vote for this 540i.
funny too cuz i was thinking last night how sweet it would be to have an E39 540i and throw a $6k supercharger on it. You'd easily see 400hp!

Ok I think i got this right..
You want a nice DD till you get the A4 up and running. Then the car you buy will be your weekend car?
Why not get something more fun to drive then. Why a large sedan.

used 3rd gen tl that would be good, repair costs would stay low, you could still stay on the forums and get help from us, you know it will be reliable and plus you already know the service people at acura, so no new idiots to deal with.
