thats the intake and exhaust valve, intake opens to let air in to explode, then exhaust valve lets it out. pressure pushes piston down. it happens much faster than that slow mo video

The intake valve opens and air AND FUEL enter the cylinder. The crankshaft causes the piston to drop in the cylinder; not pressure. The piston then rises which compresses the fuel and air. Spark is added and you have combustion. The piston drops again as the exhaust valve opens. The piston rises once more (4th stroke) and the spent gases are expelled. The piston then drops and the process starts over.

Awesome video. What's really amazing is when you rev your car all the way up to 7500 RPM's and all that happens 125 times a second.

Intake - Compression - Power stroke - Exhaust... As explained above.
