What do you think of the CLK by MBZ

I have the urge for a new car, want a M3, but can't come to the price.

I was thinking of a CLK 500.

Have you thought about holding out for the new Cadillac CTS coupe with a revised interior, engine, and exterior? Anyway I like the Porsche 911 Targa in your sig.

What is can't come to the price?

The car stickers for LESS than the MB.

Fully loaded its only 60k, where as the Benz starts at 55k and goes up to 70k

Have you looked at a GTO? I know it's way downmarket from the CLK and M3 but you may be pleasantly surprised.

I am finding about 10K off on the MBZ, which puts it about 10K under the M3

I'm sure you can deal on M3s with the new ones right around the corner.

I don't know why, but I think the new CLK's look cheap, I preffered the previous generation a LOT more. It reminds me of a stretched C230 kompressor hatchback, it just looks cheap - and I know its not.

The new CLK's look like chic cars, in my opinion. I'm not a fan.

Who has gotten a new CLK500 for 10k off sticker? Got a link?

I priced one out with decent options and it came to 62k.

Check any of the Southern California dealers internet department, they will come back with about 3K off, but second round they get to about 10K off MSRP.

$10,000 off MSRP would be around $6,000 under invoice.

I'd rather get a used 02 CLK55 over the new style CLK500, they just look more macho.

$33k vs. $60k.

Granted an M3 would run circles around either CLK, but the lux factor should make up for it.

I had a thread about this about two months ago because I was deciding between a slightly used '05 CLK55 coupe and the '06 M45 Sport. I went with the M. Just for the record, you could find '05 CLK55 coupes for around $50k because they only make the cabriolet for '06 and beyond. I actually found a Mars Red one in Florida for $47k with 18k miles on it FULLY LOADED (which is a rarity with Benzes - this car was also gorgeous), so I think you should check on autotrader, cars.com, and ebay. You might be pleasantly surprised. Let me know if you need anything - I did a lot of research on this car. You might be turned away by the ONE cupholder (yes, ONE) that this car possesses.

You telling me the dealer will take off 3k the first round then jump to 7k off?

Im sure if this is true then at lease ONE person on the benz forum was able to do it. Post that link of an actually owner who has gotten it NEW for 10k off.

Otherwise

I agree that the new CLK does look more like a chick car, I would get a '02 CLK430, you can get for under $30K
