what do you think about a tsx?

been a while since i posted, but thinking about gas prices, maybe a cheaper payment, and was thinking about a tsx, what do you guys think about it, i drove one and it seemed like a good car, i just wish it was a 6 cylinder, but then the 4 would be better on fuel - i don't know, gonna work the numbers on a tsx and a tl and see where i end up, i know either one will be cheaper than the cl lease - i have like a month to go, so its getting down to decision time

I like the TSX, but I'd personally much rather get a new TL. In regards to gas consumption, I have an 03 Accord 4-cylinder which is basically the same engine as the TSX, just slightly de-tuned. While it gets good gas mileage on the highway (I once saw 32mpg going down to Virginia), around town, the gas mileage is pretty bad. In order to accelerate around town with a 4-cylinder, you need to give it more gas. I was averaging about 18mpg in mostly city driving. I actually average better mpg with my Z than my Accord around town.

For me, SMALLER engines make for LESS gas mileage..

Because when I had my TSX loaner, I always had my foot to the floor and always had to have the RPM's high to make any enjoyable power. Where as my CL, I am in a lower RPM range and I pont need to push the car to make it fun.

I'd get one in a heart beat. TSX that is.... decent power and enought to do what you need. Built well

And with an intake, headers and exaust you will probably be close to a stock CLs in QTR. Mile Times.

If you are leasing, what would be the difference in payments between TL and TSX? If its less than $100, id go with the 04 TL 6spd...

CLose yea if you drive it well you might expect about 15.0 or so. Not bad for a 4 banger ECU mod from hondata should also....hopefully....free up alot of untapped power or so everybody says.

If a TSX will allow you to hook up a home, with maybe a garage to put the car in...then I say go for it!!!! I know folks who end up living in their car trying to hold onto it for one reason or another....

I'd take the TSX over an Accord as well.

Can't beat those TSX gauges.

either one will be cheaper than the cl lease, so if there isn't much difference - i'll probably take the tl, if its alot more, i'll probably go with the tsx with a 6 speed, and probably the mp3 player and gound effects kit and spoiler

The tsx doesn't seem to get the best mileage out there for a 4-cyl engine and it sounds like you're sacrificing power for assumed gas mileage. Too bad you can't hold out for an accord hybrid, probably will end up being the same price as a tsx.

27k seems hard to justify when a loaded Accord V6 can be had for 1-2k less, and Accord is roomier. If the priority is the look of the car, then the TSX is better looking and has 40 more hp than the 4cyl Accord, but 40 less than the V6 and not as smooth. If it were 24 or 25 loaded maybe but not 27.

Not a chance. I/H/E on the TSX only give it an extra 15 whp or so. I've seen them at the track run mid 15s.

Now with the Hondata re-flashed ECU you're talking an extra 40 whp on top of your other mods. That turns the car into a whole new beast. You'll lose about 3-4 MPG though.

The TSX is an awesome car. Looks good, drives well, interior is pimp.

If a 2004 TL is too expensive, then I'd go down to an Accord. I'd skip the TSX all together.

$27k is MSRP. The TSX has been out for almost a year. You can get dealers to work off a little from the price. EVERYONE and their mom drives an Accord. The TSX is definitely the better choice over an Accord. Maybe even the TL.

Someone who is shopping for a TL is usually looking @ a midsized sedan, so in his case, roominess might be a major factor. But even then, what does the TSX have over the Accord other than "looks" which is purely subjective? Let's keep the topic to stocks cars.

He currently drives a CL. The back seat of the CL is no larger than the seat of a TSX.

The interior and overall initial quality of the TSX is much better than the new Accord.

True...but we are also talking about stock power. Don't get me wrong, I like the TSX too, but when $$$ comes in to play, I'm not sure if the value is there.

even though we sell honda and acura, i'm staying with acura, i was just thinking that i would save a few bucks, and maybe pick up some better fuel milage, i know both honda and acura service reps that come into the dealership (the acura rep drives a pimped out beige tl with full ground effects kit and 18"s on it as a demo from a ride and drive - it actually looks really good) but i'm thinking about getting a house, and i'm sure most of you know about the expenses associated with that, the lease on my cl was and is pure shit due to the resale value, i would have saved probably 100.00 a month had i gotten a tl back then, i just didn't want to pay alot, on the other hand besides my bike, we only have the one car, so sometimes paying a little more sometimes seems worth it

i was just kicking around the tsx idea, haven't even seen numbers yet on either car on lease payments, i drove the new tl, i like it alot, and i drove the tsx, although it was an auto and a little doggy off the start, but ran good once you got it up to speed, i know its no tl, but a 6 speed would help i'm sure. i have to schedule my lease turn in inspection this week - could you believe on friday some asshole hit my car in the parking lot and i'm sure i have to have the rear bumper painted, its scraped right through to the plastic about 6 inches long, really pissed me off - other than that i had 2 small dings that would have passed the inspection, but i know they will say something about the bumper

Of course, the Accord has been out that long as well. Choice still depends on buyers criteria.

Room/comfort/smoothness = V6 Accord/TL
Handling/mileage/sportiness = TSX

I've been in all 3 and I will say the TSX surprised me with how smooth it was while cruising. It was only when pressed to pass that you noticed it was a four. Course engine note compared to the 6's.

I also question the 3-4 year depreciation compared to an Accord or the TL since those both do pretty well.

$28G fully loaded w/navi and 240hp on tap is VERY hard to pass up. The only edge the TSX has on the AV6 EX is sharper looks and handling prowess. But a new "pair of shoes" (i.e.: 18" OZ Superleggeras wrapped in S-03s) on the AV6 can make up some of the shortfalls in both areas.

If fuel economy is your thing, the TSX is a great buy. It's Honda's forte.

If you are going stock for stock, i'd go with a fully loaded accord with navigation. Or look for a pre owned 02-03 TL-S. If you have the money get the TL, Although they all share the same platform, the TL is leaps and bounds above the TSX and Accord. I would love to have a TSX with a greddy cat back, aem cold air, comptech headers, UR pullies and a Hondata chip raising my redline and lowering v tech enough for it to make do low 14's in the qaurter and be a highway terror

I have kept both cars for an entire weekend. I'm currently driving a new TL as a loaner. The TL is a better car than the tsx. But you can definitely tell that the tsx was made in Japan. When you look at little things as far as the interior in the tsx is just put together better.
