What do you look at when buying a car?
What do you look at when buying a car?
Another new car thread by me.
So what is everyones buying process when it comes to looking into a New(meaning new to you) car. If you had to put things in order of what makes you buy a car, what is it.
This is when deciding from cars within your price bracket and not just the car you wish you could afford.
Choosing from these categories.
-Looks
-Reliability
-Speed
-Interior looks
-Ride Comfort
-Handling
-Warranty
-Potential
-Brand Name
-Family Needs
If I am missing anything, let me know. I am just curious what are people's main factors when buying a car.
So list your top 6 things
Mine would be.
1.)Looks
2.)Speed
3.)Reliability
4.)Handling
5.)Interior looks
6.)Ride Comfort

1) Price
2) Performance (I would say Potential is along the same lines i.e. Mods)
3) Looks
4) Exclusiveness (I'd rather not buy a car that I see everywhere i.e. TSX, TL, 3 series, etc...)
5) Reliability
6) Fuel economy

Well, I purchased an 07 Honda Accord so by definition (and as you can see), 'looks' is not too high on my list.

1. The most important thing when I look at a car is how much I like the Clutch/manual Tranny. Everything else is secondary (but I wont be looking at a car in the first place if it doesnt look good)
2. Then everything else,.......,handling, pedal and steering feel, reliability etc etc etc

4) Cost of Ownership

I consider #1, then proceed to #2 if criteria one has been met.
Which is why I bought a Mazdaspeed3 yesterday. I got all the way to #5 and felt confident in my condition.

First I decide what type of vehicle I'm in the market for.
Then....
1. Price
2. Power/Performance
3. Looks
4. Features
I'm not a dash stroker nor am I a biased enthusiast or brand name snob...I've had German, Japanese, and American vehicles.
They all have their strong and weak points.

I just can't keep it to 6 things, sorry. But my top 6 is like almost every other 18 year old's anyway.
1. Looks
2. Fun to drive/feel
3. Handling
4. Speed
5. Aftermarket support
6. Comfort
7. Reliability
8. Interior
9. Family needs
10. Cost of ownership
11. Fuel economy
12. Rarity
13. Make
You could saw I'm biased towards Japanese cars because I've only owned Japanese cars and I probably will refuse to drive a Hyundai or a Kia. But then that's probably because I don't think they offer many appealing models..
