I never even knew Honda came out with this until i saw a superbowl commercial.
anyways what are your thoughts on this Honda pickup?
Im not sure if i like the styling yet, the rear looks like a watered down Escalade

The styling could be better. It's a very innovative truck and is very impressive, but its price tag is a tad too high.

I think it looks funny. I might consider it....
if it were given to me, for free.

Well that'd defeat the point of being a truck don't you think?
Ride like crap, turn like crap, and stop like crap. Not to mention not be able to off-road.
Trucks should display more rubber than wheel.

This pickup fits between the ghettofabulous escalade EXT and the rough and tough Rams, F250s etc. I wonder what we will see, more Ridgelines beefed up for offroad or more on 24" dubs.

I think we'll most likely see more in "street" trim, simply because it's IRS, and that makes it a biotch to get a decent lift out of. It's one thing to do a drop-down cage for IFS but the rear too puts it in a whole new world of expensive. Just look at the most recent bodystyle ford explorer, as soon as they went to IRS, the offroad companies wouldn't touch it. About all you can get now for it is lowering springs, and the explorer used to have plenty of aftermarket suspension options.
But we still may see a lift eventually since it's a honda and the aftermarket just loves hondas

For their first forey into the truck market...
I think that Honda has done very well... Look at the crap toyota and nissan put out the first time...
This new Honda is chalked-full of technology and innovations that at the very least will make all of the other manufacturers think twice about releasing just another pickup... especially the big three..
Kudos to Honda...
I would actually consider buying this truck... Think about what they've done... They've created a truck that is bigger than most of the smaller pickups out there yet not so big as the full size american juggernauts... Who buys a pickup and really gets the full utility out of it or uses it to its full potential - not many... maybe 10 to 15 % - the rest (especially here in LA) have their trucks just for show...
I think they (Honda) have placed themselves right in the middle of the market...

most honda buyers arent off-roaders. people who want a truck to do that wouldnt buy a honda anyways. just like all the avalanches and escalade ext's you see with big rims.

Personally, I kinda like the design. Obviously, I'd like to change a few minor details, but I've seen in in silver and thought it looked ok. It would also look pretty pimp in black with some larger wheels.

They even sold a lot of 4 cylinder truck engines. But your comparing apples to oranges.
Big diesel 4/6 cyl way has more power than Honda 6 cyl. Lets be realistic here. Some of those engines are the size of a small honda.

If it looked better, sure, but the exterior and even interior look too GM'ish. Also don't think the idea of a crew cab short bed truck is all that great to begin with as far as having a versatile vehicle.

Werd, I don't like the Avalanche, and I don't like this....just because it has a big ass grille does not mean it looks tough.
I'm not saying its a bad start in the truck arena, but I'm definitely not saying its a good start.....just my
