What do you all think of...

the new Ford Taurus SHO Twin Turbo AWD coming out? it's layin down some nice numbers i gotta say!,, (used to be a chevy and ford guy back in the early 2000's),, always wanted a SHO taurus but at the time i was into V8's, LS1's, LT1's, ect ect....

what do you guys think of their setup with the engine? and the car itself ain't half bad lookin either,, if i were in the market for a car,, i would pick that over a 4th Gen TL.

Wrong forum. IBmovetoCarTalk

It's a good car, though, being a full-size sedan, it's too big of a car for my liking.

I don't think they look very appealing.

not the best looking i agree, but thats why we mod cars, i could already picture the car in black or white, tinted, and do a custom cleared/blacked out on the headlights to start

i think some pro's and con's should be listed,, i'll just start it off with

Pros: AWD, Twin Turbo, 365HP, Heated and Air Conditioned seats, 2 tone interior - suede and leather, BIG nice lookin wheels, true dual exhaust

Cons: Ford, chrome grille overkill?, not as Techy as a 4th Gen TL, nice interior but a little bit basic with the radio and climate control layout

feel free to add to either!

I'm sure a nice drop and different shoes would help the appearance.

I'm liking the new SHO.

It's come a LONG way from this:

to this:

I give Ford a big for not only pulling themselves out of financial trouble, but finally addressing the problems with the looks of their cars that so many have been complaining about. Granted this isn't the best looking car on the market, but when you stop and think that this is a Ford and available in the states, that is a huge accomplishment. I have great hopes that we're gonna see some great cars from them in the future. If you had asked me that a year or two ago, I probably would have responded completely different.

I think it's a huge improvement in regards to appeal compared to the previous gen Taurus/500/whatever it was called. If I were in the market for a large sedan in that price range, the SHO would definitely be on my list to check out. I have no problem with paying 40k for a Ford, unlike some people.... As long as the car is worth the price.

I am looking forward to the Washington DC Auto Show so that I can actually sit in all these new Fords and not have a sales donkey harassing me.

My issue with paying $40k for a Ford isn't necessarily the initial price ... It's the value of the car when I decide to move on to something else.

If the new Fords hold their value as well as say a Nissan will (going forward) I think people will be much more inclined to sink a lot of money in a new SHO.

Nice looking car, I wasn't a fan of it when I saw it in magazines, but the few I've seen in person were very nice. It is a big car, would be nice to have that as a family cruiser and a fun car for the weekends.

I saw one at the car show earlier this year. In person it is very nice looking. I think bringing back the SHO is cool but if I were shopping for a full sized American performance sedan my money would probably still be on the Pontiac G8 though.

The SHO Taurus is huge-- we're talking bigger-than-300C huge and heavy here.

I like the SHO engine-- it belongs in a Fusion/Milan -sized car, like the original Taurus SHO.

I actually like the new SHO, actually saw one last week and thought it looked pretty nice; the stance at least from the rear is spot on. If I was in the market for a full-size sedan, it would definitely be in my top choices, Ford has come a long way.

I like the new SHO but ALSO would not pay $40k for it. As has been posted, I'd also rather have the G8 GXP (although the AWD of the SHO makes it a bit more practical in the snow belt states.) But, I do applaud the effort.

I'd like to see that powertrain in a Fusion though....ideally with a pricetag < $35k. THAT would leapfrog the AV6, Alti 3.5SE and regular Fusion V6 on my list of preferred midsized sporty family sedans.

Like it, but too big a car for my tastes.

Now a Fusion SHO would be interesting

I'm not a fan of large vehicles. It looks awesome, personally I think the cooled seats are a worthless feature. What's the use of cooled seats, maybe for fat-ass hogs who sweat profusely, but honestly the A/C unit should suffice, you're back I'm sure won't appreciate direct cool air, it'll cause some aches.

It is hard for me to say, since I have traditionally been a ford hater, but their new lineup is quite nice. They are actually nice to look at for once, they even made the focus a cool looking car.

I haven't driven one, but on paper, I think it's an awesome car. It's got the looks on both sportiness and elegance, the power and the performance. I think it's an all-around cool car. I would have a hard time paying 40 grand for one, though. So many good choices in that price category... I would have to test drive a lot of cars before deciding. But I think it's a viable choice for sure.

I'm far from a fat ass, but I really like having cooled seats. It makes a big difference on long road trips, and it's more effective than those crotch-vents underneath the steering column that older Toyota and GM trucks used to have.

Not to mention many luxury cars are meant to have all these extra features that are supposedly excessive... Like rain-sensing wipers, swiveling headlights, cooled seats, distance control/accident avoidance, etc.

I am very interested in the new SHO. It is really big but I hear nothing but good things about the DI engine and Sync is one of the better nav systems out there....

Me too,

Evan though its a little too big in size, if I was in the market for a car that size, it would be on top of my list. It's platform-mate, the MKS, looks fantastic

That's the one I drove. It was fantastic. I loved pretty much everything about it except the lack of sound from the motor. It's hushed even at full throttle. It has enormous proportions, tons of features (massaging, cooled seats are awesome) and the 365HP is not felt at all because it's so quiet. Punch it to the floor and it feel likes you're doing 20 or 30mph, look down at the speedo and it's climbing past 70 and 80...

I do have to mention that it isn't as roomy as you'd imagine inside. The tall center console looks and feels great, and works well ergonomically but can intrude on leg room for larger people.

Overall though I'm a fan; Naturally.
