What to do....

My Infiniti needs tires. NO....I am not getting a new car.

I should be able to get through the winter with them. They are at about 50%.

Tires alone for my car will be about $600 plus I need to have 2 bent wheels fixed. That's looking like an additional $200.

This is my car now....

I'm trying to decide between getting a set of different wheels for it. I was looking at the stock G35 18 inch wheels. I can get a set of those used with tires for about $800.

They should look similar to this....

Or I can go with a set of mesh wheels. Something like the HP Lightning, or Axis Pentas.

These are the HP EVO's...This was a fellow Azine member's.

Anyone have anything to say about HP wheels? I can get a set of the HP Lightning Silver wheels and NANKANG NS-2 tires for about $1250. The "Hyper Light" color is $200 less.

So, let me have the opinions.

Will these new 18s have all season tires?

Gotta think about winter ya know. Plus i wouldnt risk driving in snow with only 50% left. Not worth the risk.

I voted HP mesh wheels, but will you be buying the new rims and using them in the winter?

They will be all seasons for any tires I get. Although if I get nicer wheels I will probably pick up a cheap set of winter rubber.

I don't think I'm going to push the tires I have now. That's why I want to make a decision soon. I would like to get them changed before we get any snow.

Oh and HP wheels are decent but they are pretty heavy. Not sure if you care about that.

Im weird and actually like the stock wheels on the I35...

I would rather not, but I really don't want to spend $800-$900 for new tires and to fix my bent wheels. If I do that, then I'm just sticking with the stock wheels I have now.

I used my Mod Sevens I had on my CL for the first winter I had them and they were fine.

The plan is if I really have to I will let my wife take the car to work when the weather is bad and I will take the Pathfinder. She works 3 miles away, so they won't get eaten up by the road salt as much.

I don't mind them, but I really hate the way the lug cover fits. I have never gotten them to stay on right and I have never seen another I35 that didn't have the same problem. And part of me would like a change.

I do care about the weight aspect, but not as much as you track guys. This is a daily driver for me. Absolutely no mods. None really planned until stuff starts needing to be replaced. But at the 105K it is at right now, I still have a solid engine, and suspension.

And I don't think they will be as heavy as my 19 inch Axis I had on the CL.

Quasi-related hi-jack question. I'm trying to sell my car but it desperately needs new tires. If I end up trading it in, should I replace the tires or say fuck it and trade it as-is. The car would not pass inspection with the current tires.

I would take it to a dealership and tell them you want to trade it in. See if they mention it. Sometimes they will reduce the offer if the tires are really bad. Sometimes they will let it slide.

Or check out Craiglist for some cheap ones. Hell, if I end up getting new tires, we can work out something and you can have mine. The ones on my car was good enough to pass inspection.

Personally, I think the OEM rims that come with the I35 compliment the car well. The G35 rims pictured along with the mesh rims cheapen the look and ruin the classy lines of the car. My vote is to stick with the current rims.

fuck it. Leave it as is if at all possible. You'd never get the full-value of the wheels you just bought in a sale.

Ravi - Seems like the G35 wheels would probably be the cheaper of the two aftermarket options, and they look pretty sweet! I'd go with those if you could...

I thought the opposite. I didnt like the OEMs as much as the others. Me personally i would pick up a new set of snow tires for the winter and get the rims you like for summer.

That is an option. I just hate the slight vibration I get from the bent wheels. The coupled with snow tires will make for a really annoying ride. And I drive a lot.

I'm keeping my eyes open for a good set that I don't have to ship.

The bends are causing a slight vibration that usually I can have balanced so it's only annoying at a small range of speed. I need to have them balanced again. I do so much highway driving that I hardly eat away the tires at all.

Believe it or not, I think the rear tires are original. They were on the car when I got it, and the dealership said they were never replaced. After my wife bent the wheels and blew out a tire I got 2 new ones and put them up front on the good rims. I never rotated them since the newer tires were up front. Those have 50K on them and like I said....still at about 50%.

New tires and original wheels. I think the original wheels look quite attractive on your car, so having the two damaged wheels repaired and the security of all new rubber on all four corners for a reasonable price seems to make the most sense to me.

I've bought and sold alot of stuff on CL and haven't had any problems.

You can usually talk the seller down from the asking price. $450 - $375 seems like a good deal for that set up.

Lots of depends. Depends what condition the G35 wheels/tires are. Depends if your pricing is accurate on fixing everything. Are wheels the same being fixed after being bent? I truly don't know. If G35's are barely touched and go for $800 vs $800 for the same setup as before, I'd go with the G just because your car will still have newer tires, new wheels, and stand out. The aftermarket rims are dead last since you'll have to lower your car thus adding to your cost.

I've called 4 places about having them fixed and they are all over $100 a piece. Best is $105 plus tax. Tires are about $150 to $190 a piece for ones that I will not regret getting in 6 months.

The ones I am seeing for the G35 wheels and tires look to be in decent shape. But nothing is perfect.

I agree that the aftermarket one will look better if the car is lowered and right now I don't need to, nor want to lower my car. So it is last in my book as well.

I have a call into him. If he is willing to deal a bit, I will look at getting them before the end of the weekend. I leave for NC on Monday and would rather not pay to balance the wheels I have on the car right now to avoid having to drive above 70 or below 60 mph.

Problem solved....

I decided to get this instead.

I got the wheels from CL. I picked them up this afternoon. They all look in decent shape. Some scuff marks. The straight ones on my car are in about the same condition. I'm putting them on tomorrow. All the tires look practically brand new.

Another option would be the M35/M45 wheels. If you have not purchased anything yet.

I'll take some pics soon.
