What car should I get?
What car should I get?
My lease is due up in 3 weeks...and it's creeping up and I'm still unsure WTF I want to get.
I've narrowed it down to a few cars...(but I'm open for options)
2009 A4 Sedan
2009 G37 Sedan
Used 1st Gen FX
Used previous gen TL
2009 Toyota highlander
What do you guys recommend? The G37 and A4 both have some very attractive lease deals right now...So those are my two top options. Does anyone have a good comparison of both of those?

I'm leaning towards the G37, but have you seen the brand new A4?
Its a BEAUTIFUL car inside and out.... but its pretty porky for a 4-cylinder, a somewhat underpowered one at that. Yes, yes, I know, before all the 1.8t/2.0t will nevar die! crowd comes in and throws stuff at me, you can flash the 2.0T and gets some damn good gains. Warranty work is hit or miss depending on the dealership if you get it chipped though.
Have you driven the new A4? I haven't, but other slightly used ones have mute steering. Who knows, maybe they've improved on it with the newer ones. This gets kinda old saying it a thousand times, but drive all the cars you're interested in. That way you'll know you're not missing out on something. Either way for the A4 I'd get the 2.0T instead of the 3.2
Trending Topics
The G37's constant 6M shifter vibration annoyed me enough that I would only consider the auto in it (some of the car mags had a problem with shifter action, but I thought it was fine); the A4 had a very nice manual transmission/clutch set-up.
I never tested the auto trans version of either car, though.

My lease ended last month, so I ended up buying out my 3G TL because I didn't find the G37 and A4 (along with a number of other cars) appealing enough for me to change.
The lease on my TSX ended 2 months ago and I got a 2007 TL-S. neither the A4 nor the g37 sedan appealed to me much. The G37 coupe is a different story, but for some reason insurance was much higher ($1000 more for a year) than on the other cars (A3, A4, G37 sedan and TL-S)
Sure some may complain about stuff here and there, but no different than Acura/Honda owners complaining about rattles, repeated blown trannies, or fluctuating throttle issues or the many repeated topics you see pop up in the cl/tl boards.
I'd be curious what problems you are speaking of as well. We had a 2.0T A4 and it was in the shop less then my Acura TL-S was. Just as the B7 was better then the B6, the B8 is better then the B7. Unless you're dealing with an Audi A8, reliability is on par with the likes of Acura.

I also really dig the A3.
There is none.
Audi is having a summer event....
A4
- No regestration fee
- If you have a 03-09 any Audi model, offering loyalty program (cash back)
- Audi will pay up to 1-2 first payments (2 payments on Prestige option)
- graduate student gets special discount
Zero down (not really) 36months w/ 10k miles is starting at $399.99. This was last month's special, but this summer event is offering better, so I would definitely recommend you to check out new A4.

I honestly don't keep track of owner's complaints so I don't know where your attitude is coming from. And Jedi is right, I think the A4 is a sweet ride, but it's no secret that their reliability hasn't been exactly stellar in the past. I even said I'd pick it over the G and all the others in the OP's list....

no attitude. just based on your comments in other auto threads

i would also pick the A4 over the others whether its lease or buy.
rodxx, if you want to hear more first hand ownership experiences with the new B8 A4, check out audizine.com and audiworld.com and skim the threads to see what people have to say. :twocents:
nah... actually r0dxx asked me about the FX a little over a year ago... he even signed up in one of the FX forums... we went back and forth in pms and instant messaging... and if it's NOT on his list... I'm assuming he's lost interests...
besides... I think the only time I've ever recommended the FX was when the OP mentioned it up in a list...
but my vote goes to either the G37 or A4

anyone else think the 2.0T is underpowered? for a car that's close to charging 335i prices, it should have a little more umph imo. On top of that the 335I almost gets the same gas mileage. The A4 does look good though.
I just did a comparison, I built as evenly as possible A4 vs. 335i and the A4 came out at 55,300 and the 335i was 57,425. For the extra 2k I'll take a 300hp TT V6 please.

that is what I was thinkingI really really liked the new Audis until I saw the prices... the 3.2 FSI starts off at $40,000 (US pricing)
I bought my 09 A4 /w Premium Plus for 33,500 before T&L...
Some of these prices people are coming up with are quite ridiculous. A4 doesn't go close to 50,000 unless you are adding every option available.
2.0T chipped gains 40hp/40lbft which takes it to 250/300, which is more than enough for a daily driver IMO.

The 2.0T in the B7 A4/A3 is one of the best built motors that Audi has ever put out. It's highly de-tuned, and although it may be underpowered for most consumers. With a cheap reflash ($600) you can easily add more than 70 lb-ft of torque! The 2.0T in the B8 is putting out a whopping 250 lb-ft of torque, 5 more than what the 3.2 v6 was putting out and 43 more than the last gen 2.0T. This is just one of the reasons they no longer needed to offer the v6 and why they are removing that option in the future. And a great perk of it is you have a lighter weight motor in your car.

The 2.0T engine was sooo much more fun then the V6. When we would bring her A4 in for scheduled maintenance, a few times we got the V6 and we hated it. Couldn't wait to get the 2.0T back...
