I don't think pricing for the 2012 is out yet ... Last time I looked at Audiusa.com it was the current version.
Compared to a CTS-V it's not going to have anywhere the HP but it's not really designed to be that kind of car.
It'll have the new 4.0T with 408hp ... The S8 is getting 518hp from the same 4.0T (with modifications I imagine).
Audi should have been in the 450s at least for the S6/S7.
The CTS-V is a serious beast ... Can't go wrong with it.

Sounds like you're warming up to the V more and more.
Think of it this way.
If you get the V, you have a beast of a machine...and they aren't on every street corner either.
Well....relative to the number of M's on the road. For good reason of course...but the V is a double-taker. Whereas the M is a dime a dozen to most despite it's performance.

M3 is obviously the go-to performance sedan, but IMO won't be as much of a head-snapper as a V. I see M3s every day and am not particularly excited by them anymore. I'm sure it's a different story from behind the driver's seat, though
But the V has a buttload more power, is more dramatic, rare, and looking at some 2009 and 2010s, hold their value ridonkulously well.
If I were to get a V, it would be a wagon with the MT and Recaros.

Personally, I think the V is a win in nearly every category.
- It's the most powerful sedan in the world. And the coupe ain't too shappy either.
- It handles great. The M3 might handle better, but in my opinion it's close enough to be a moot point
- You don't see them everywhere like you see M3's. The Jag would win out on the scarcity factor, but buying a Jag would make me nervous
- More reliable than BMW and Jag, and cheaper to maintain.
- Cheaper to mod
- Looks GREAT. The M3 and the Jag look good as well, but I like the "muscle car" look that the caddy subtly displays
- Most bang for your buck. In my opinion, the CTS-v is the 3G TL of the highend car world. You just get more or the same for less money. A comparable brand new BMW, Benz, or Audi is going to run you tens of thousands dollars more than a similarly equiped CTS-V.
- Buy American and support our country!
I'll leave you with this:

Come on..... DO IT!

Just send wife to performance driving school for the weekend. Problem solved. Only you might create a new problem of her taking your car more and more.
German cars do have more snob appeal because the general public (minus car enthusiasts) know more about German brand appeal than about the CTS-V.
When I told my sister I was having a hard time deciding between a 550 and a CTS-V, she asks me: "What's a CVS-T and why is it special?"
M3 all the way!! CTS-V coupe looks too much like a 2 door G6........M3 may be a dime a dozen but there is a reason for it and it looks better. Ive given up on GM cars so I'm kinda biased. Just my
Yes and Yes. Im not saying that the performance aspect is the same between the too obviously. I'm saying that when I see the CTS-V coupe that in resembles a G6 GTP coupe from the side. I'm not gonna get into a big argument about it because I don't like GM cars at all. So don't waste your time.

@ CTS-V coupe...
