Good amount of cars, mostly older ones from the early 1900s. No idea on how many.

I went there a few years back when I went to the Detroit Auto Show. It was very impressive and suprisingly they have a number of items with a large significance to American history - The chair Lincoln was shot in at the Ford Theater, Kennedy's limo that he was assisinated in, limo which Regan was getting out of when he was shot, etc...

Among people from Michigan who would start a Henry Ford Museum photo thread with a 1982 Accord:
1) me
2) Michael Moore [apparently drove an Accord in his early filmmaking days]
Of course, there are 10 million other a$$holes in this state, but I thought to mention only the usual suspects. :chuckles:

Jesal doesn't need a ban, he needs to post more pics of pink Chevys and old Lincolns to PROVE he actually went to the HF Museum and didn't pull them off the intarweb.
[The I-94 shot isn't anything fancy or rare, besides, I-94 west of Ann Arbor doesn't have enough potholes and crap to qualify as a real Michigan freeway]

alright... I had to do some checking b/c I wasn't 100% sure... the race car is the Ford GT40 Mark IV. That being said, you could call it a "Ford GT"... it's just a different model than the "Ford GT" we know today.

The new Ford GT is a "retro" vehicle based on the old Ford GT40... Seems like Ford sold the rights to the GT40 name, so legally they couldn't call the new car a GT40 hence the GT name.
There were Mark I, II, II and IV's...
http://www.me.mtu.edu/~prater/GT40/GT40.html
The Ford GT-40 was so named due to it's overall height of 40 inches...
From http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews...t-1004121.html
In case you were wondering why its a Ford GT and not a GT40, the answer is simple. Rather like the Queen selling off the Crown Jewels because she wasnt wearing them anymore, Ford sold the rights to the GT40 name to Safir Engineering, a British company that produced beautifully finished mega-money replicas of the GT40. When Safir ran into financial problems in 1999, the name was transferred to their US-based parts operation and Ford managed to negotiate a one-off deal to use the name on their 2002 Detroit Show car.
This received such a reception that Ford decided they had to buy the name back from Safir GT40 Spares but the asking price of $40 million was deemed excessive. So the GT it is. Ford know that most are still going to refer to the car as the GT40 despite it measuring 43 inches high and not the originals 40 inch height (hence the name).
