...............for a loaner.
Pretty nice car.
The damn engine needs to be about double the size though. I'm used to my CL or even my Cherokee. I almost got murdered trying to merge into traffic.
It'll be a great car if it had more hp. I guess that's what the TL is for though.

On a lighter note, some of you guys are just too power hungry. I test drove one, and coming from another 4-banger (Accord), it was fast to me. It's at least a good 1 second faster than your average 4-cylinder auto car.

And yes the automatic TSX is a dog. SLLLLOOOOOWWWWWW. Much easier to merge with twice the HP in my CL

Nope, it's silver.
Overall not a bad car though. I guess it's just 'cause I never owned or even driven a 4 cylinder car before.

I tried the car felt too floaty. Kinda like it wanted to flip over.
I'm sure if I had the same supension mods I have on my CL, it'll be really nice in the twisties.
And don't laugh...............
If it was a 6mt I'd still be at the dealer. I can't drive a stick.

I've only driven a stick when I was learning to drive. Not my cup of tea, either.
Wow, everyone is entitled to their opinion but it is crazy how people exaggerate about the TSX's lack of power. I'm with Phile on this one. The car seems pretty fast to me.. Not nearly as fast as the TL/CL but fast enough.. but certainly not SLOW like if it was less than 100HP. .. and I've driven an '04 TL and I'm driving an '03 TL Type S loaner now. The car is really fast but the Interior IMO is disgusting compared to the TSX...and I don't like its exterior.

Nobody claims the TSX to be fast, but is right at the acceleration level of a 325i, and is300, faster than a A4 1.8t, a little slower than the S40. All cars that are direct competition. The TSX is just about as fast as it is supposed to be for the price you pay for it.
People talk like it's the slowest car on earth. I think its just fine.

I've said the same thing before... seems underpowered. Car accelerates slow with 4 people in it too, especially at highway speeds.
I'd like to see a highway race with 4 people 325 vs. a TSX. (all 4 people close in total weight, meaning less than 20lbs total)
They might keep up with one another with just one person in the car. But I find it hard to believe the TSX is faster with the car fully loaded.

when I had a TSX loaner I almost killed myself merging into traffic too. I pulled out like normal, and realized I wasn't speeding up very fast. I floored it, but I still wasn't moving... guy behind me had to hit his brakes, I felt like a jackass.
then, coming into the first corner I almost flipped the bitch. it swayed way over the outside, I overcorrected and swung it a little too much before I got back in line. scared the shit out of my friend in the car with me. I guess I was used to the ct sways and drop on the cl.
on the other hand... it rode smooth as hell, and was almost silent. the doors closed with a soft thud instead of a bang like the cls. when I got back in my car, it felt a little junky.

I dunno, the 1/;4 times are almost identicle. Unless you meant with 4 people in the car.
When i test drove the TSX i also felt the 5at to be a bit of a dog, but the 6mt was a big improvement. IMO this car needs a manual tranny. I know some may disagree but to me the difference was significant.
When I have 3 passenger's in my TSX, I'm generally not racing anybody.
Power: enough, too much, perfect amount - let's chase our tails for three threads!!!
BTW - 5AT owns in the mileage department - generally get around 34mpg on 90% freeway driving.

As a TSX owner my opinion may be bias, that being said..... I know the TSX is not a fast car, I knew that when I bought it. I did not buy it to have a fast car, but you guys who say its slow really should drive more "normal" cars- the TSX is suprisingly spirited for a 4cyl non-turbo/supercharged engine. At the same time I think the 200HP and 160ish ft/lbs of torque is a nice balance, this car has zero torque steer, much more HP/torque and it would be an issue. I have only driven one auto TSX the rest were 6MT, the 6 speed makes a marked improvement on acceleration.
But to make a statement that it was unsafe to merge because the TSX is underpowered is a very ignorant statement. Have you driven a base Caravan lately? how about a cavalier? The TSX will feel like a F1 car after you drive them! Funny thing is that these "slow" cars don't seem to be a menace to the road(even when merging), maybe the driver was to aggressive with a car they didn't know well thus causing the close calls. But don't be foolish and say the TSX is to slow to merge with traffic safely.

The shorter gearing of the 6MT allows you to keep the revs in the sweet spot of the powerband unlike the 5AT.

The same can be said from when you go from a TSX back to his modded CL-S. The acceleration he's used to in his car isn't matched by the TSX, therefore... the act of merging changes because the car can't acclerate as quickly. If he was used to driving it that'd be one story, but loosing nearly 100 horsepower will change the way you need to drive.
