Well...the S2000 needed more doors, more driven wheels, and a lot more torque...

Anyone else know of another car that can can do 4.5s 0-60, easily 34mpg on the highway, and comfortably fit a pine tree plus Costco shopping in the back? #hatchbacksgonnahatchback

I don't even want to know what your interior looked like after that was in there. The plastic has to be all scratched up.
I can check off two of those but you are definitely getting 3 times the mileage I get

And yes, I know lol. There are plenty of cars that can do most of these things, just not all and that's why I tossed in the high mileage requirement.

Weathertech mats were purchased and installed before the car even left the dealer lot. The trunk liner was ordered as a factory option so it's all in there already.

Unloading the tree from the car was a fucking nightmare. I have so many pricks on my arm from the needles I look like a heroin addict.
Not yet. Giving it a year to shake out any issues with the engine/drivetrain before I give it more juice. Only 4k on the clock so far. Next summer for sure though.

Not gonna lie, I love the R... but let’s be honest here
if you love cars, V > R in every category besides daily driving.

Don't disagree. Also need to factor in cost to buy, maintain, and fuel. Also, you can buy a new R but not a new Vagon. I love me a Vagon but at this point, my next car is likely to be a E63 wagon because it's newer and has more modern features. Also, rear facing third row seats. And AWD.

I think they cater to two different audiences...
there's something about the James Bondness of a Tuxedo with Muscle car under the hood.
That said, the R is probably a better choice overall.
I do get 34 mpg...maybe more...when coasting in Neutral at highway speeds.

but really, a 2G V is cheaper than a new R. And no, it’s not new... but they are pretty bullet proof. I’d argue more so than an R.
Don't get me wrong... I’m still considering an R for my next DD.
and in terms of holding value, the V destroys the R. It’s simply a numbers thing. There are way more Rs available then Vs. But still... I hold much love for the R. Cannot deny it. I’d be smiling every day if there was one in my garage, no joke.

Ideally, the R would be my DD due to practicality, and the V would be my weekend warrior because of the horrendous gas mileage

I expect you to stick up for the R.. I mean, there’s one in your garage!!

At the end of the day, I wasn't going to pony up that kind of cash for an older car with a bunch of miles that got 12mpg. And by I wasn't going to pony up, I mean my accountant wasn't going to pony up. In any case, I'm incredibly satisfied with the Golf in every way. The fit/finish is outstanding, the mileage is great, the power is intoxicating, and the AWD will help in a few months. Definitely no regrets here. Only mods planned are new wheels and an APR+ tune next spring/summer.

You can't compare the Golf R and a Vagon
Completely different species
I honestly think J would love an R over his Vagon
The only thing he likes about the Vagon is the accolades

I think that in day to day driving if I could only have 1 car, that would be more reasonable to me with the fit and finish and good gas mileage.
The accolades are cool but that's not it...I used to lust after the CTS-V even back when it was just the 1st Gen...
I recall when we picked up B's SRX there was a used sedan on the lot at her Dad's dealership and I was mesermized
by the front end.
I'm just a spoiled bitch that wants every car to be good at everything...truth be told, I do think the Caddy is a phenomenal ride
and I do love how it looks and obviously the power is a rush. Stopping by a local tire place to pick up some super sports for the
front today, actually. Plus, my lady loves that thing.

Our general counsel at work just bought an E63S AMG wagon in Piedmont Green over brown leather and it is so
Now I just need to wait 5.5 more years for the Golf's warranty to expire, find some extra cash, and a good CPO example to buy.
Yep, I know. I'm not at all regretting my decision.
Eh, I'm not so sure about that. The Vagon, especially in black, just has such a sinister look to it. The Golf and GTI, in any color, look happy and playful. The Golf R is the same happy and playful with a bit of pissed off to it.
Your lady should love you and not only the car.
Also the 1G CTS was kinda fugly. They used a straight ruler for every body line.

But my point is, driving one and driving the other isn't a spec sheet in an article
They are completely different rides.. one is a LSx V8 with a blower and the other is 4 banger with a hair dryer

That's why it doesn't vibe with J in a fantastic way
He's more of a 4 banger with a hair dryer type of gal.. plus mpgeees

I think the Golf R is best of all worlds type of ride
J's girl might even love it as much as the Vagon since she likes VW

No, not the newest...but yes to the 255/40/19...
...and he said $Tree Fiddy for both in person picked up...
Not a bad deal considering they will last forever assuming we can get the alignment right. The toe is MAJORLY off since I lowered the car...
I just realized the front has a cradle that can be moved as well so hoping to dial it in spec.

I'll see if I can grab a pic. He's not in the office that much and has a pretty awesome stable of older classic cars that he drives in the summer (XJ V12, old E320 vert, VW Karmann Ghia, etc) so I don't see the AMG very often.

Bro, you are schooling me on that fact? I lived under that van's hood for the last year and a half.
It's worst of wiring nightmares with vw wiring and electronics and tv's and headlights and tails and everything...
and chrysler drivetrain...
at 125K miles it was burning a quart a month at least...check engine light, slipping and limp mode transmission that isn't serviceable...
blown shocks, fucked rear door slide, fucked rear TV, fucked window switches and actuator, fucked ignition switch, fucked injector,
fucked starter...
I mean, 125K miles...on a Honda the engine would have just been broken in.

Carmax gave you $50 but cost you $100 for the tow.. not bad.
