Want Opinions: 3G TL for used S2000

first off, i would like to mention that im only 18.
my parents bought be the car and im really happy with it. but since my parents dont live in this country they dont have much credit. we put 10k down and still paying 550+ a month for 5 years.

I think the payments are rediculous (not my parents, they havent complaned) and i was considering the s2000. maybe an 02. saw some for 18k with 36k miles on it.
ive always liked it but never considered it because it was a manual.

i bought a 96 civic 5spd as a beater car so now im comfortable with stick.

so the question is...should i swap the TL for S2000? pros and cons would be nice

thats only if my parents let me. theyre thinking it over now.

any opinion would be appreciated.

here are the pics of my TL...updated pics are on bottom of 1st page

Fuck NO. Doesn't it snow where you live? The TL is a perfect package. Are you gonna take the car to the track?

i would personally keep the TL. s2k is cool, and i would definitely love to have it, but not if it means i have to give up my TL.

Yeah, do you really wanna have a torqueless car for everyday driving (when compared to the TL?)

It's fine if you wanna keep pushing it all the time, but the TL is better.

i honestly want an s2k but i like the TL too much..

i do have a beater car for the winter...
if i do get the s2k though, i will prob autox it. (come on now, we all know it was built to handle)...ive autoxed the TL and its just too heavy. but im looking for a reliable car...which they both are.

anyone have pros and cons...besides the fact that im moving from 6cyl to 4cyl? and im def getting a aftermarket navi so itll be the same as the TL

I have been tossing around the idea of buying the s2k for the last three weeks now. I cannot seem to convince myself I do not need heated seats.

I hear the stereo is weak, too. Regardless, though, I hear the drive is amazing!

With the sound of the high revving 4 cylinder, you wont care about how to the stereo sounds. Besides it real easy to upgrader the stereo.

Keep the TL. Even @ the age of 18, you should be able to appreciate the awesome mix of classiness and sport the TL is able to offer.

@least, that's how I am w/ my CL.

Cliff, we are similar in situation, I am thinking, and thinking real hard.

TL and S2000, can't compare them since they are made for different purposes.

which purpose you want your transportation to be.....thats the question.

good luck, I think I might go with S2000.....or somthing else....but TL is not doing anything
for me as of right now.

You have a six speed TL and its not doing anything for you? Can you elaborate?

yes, everyone can be different with the TL.

Many ppl on this forum say TL is more Lux than Sport. I love the LUX in the TL, I enjoy the comfort and amenities everyday.

The sporty side of the TL is my problem. Its not fast, but 6 spd is very quick. I love the torque in the TL, which was the biggest difference between my TL and my friends 6spd Accord. I love the growl it roars as I hit vtec, so performance is def there.

Its the nimble, agile, telepathic steering that I wish TL had.....but its IMPOSSIBLE with TL's given weight and load. Its a comfy four door with large back seats so I can transport my passengers without any discomfort, and believe me, my friends are quite shocked how big and comfy it is in the back.

Many times I felt "danger" when cutting through traffic.....its very responsive, more after the AEM CAI, and the quickness I love, but nimble its not. Skidpad is great, better than some RWD out there. Acura worked magic with the TL.

after writing all these I ask my self why I am trading............

Confused

It all depends what you want. I love both cars, the TL is classy and quick while the S2000 is quick and you have a lot more aftermarket toys with it. The payments on the TL is ridiculous but it really depends on what the folks say.

I think the TL is easier for someone to appreciate its virtues in the long run. With snow 5-6 months a year, that's already half a year that you can't use the performance of the S2000, but the luxury of the TL is still there, and the heated seats are nice too. Every once in awhile, when you want to gun it, the TL has sufficient power (at least enough to make me smile pretty big). Even with my FIRST GEN TL I'm still happy with the power.

And think about sitting in traffic. The S2000 has then lost it's use. But the TL still gives you a great stereo to listen to, comfortable seats to sit in (this applies VERY much to a highway road trip!) should keep you "wrapped up".

Also, the S2000 punishes you. Would you really want to take your daily commute over cracked roads EVERY DAY in that?

But if you think the fun factor of the S2000 and its roadster nature are big enough plusses to outweigh the TL's advantage, then get it. Otherwise stick with the TL.

ive been thinking of getting an s2000, 2002, for around 20k. Man, i'd love it, but is it really worth the risk in Chicago, driving it around in snowy conditions? of course, i could just garage it during the winter and take the train to school (UIC, 2006). A 50 lb. sand bag and snow tires would help, but it'd still be hard in the snow. Damn Chicago weather, the only thing holding it back
