VW Passat 4Motion

hey guys my g/f is still looking at new cars and since I'm into cars she wants suggestions that's half way reasonable. (like in the 20-25 grand ball park). anyhow I saw the V-6 Passat 4MOTION(which is all-wheel drive) it was 26 grand. does anyone know much about the 4MOTION. is it worth it? or is it a POS?
the reason I'd like for her to get AWD is cause the roads she takes to work in the winter can get slick. I'd feel better if she had Front Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive

VW's 4MOTION was taken from their existing Quattro system on the Audi line, so the AWD should be pretty solid.

Passat shares same chassis with Audi A6. very solid with 4motion (same as quattro). Try W8 or v6, but no 1.8T

The Passat shares it's platform with the A4, not the A6.

EDIT: Opps, I guess the Passat, A4, AND A6 are all built on the same platform. I was not aware of that.

When I first started out looking for a car, I went and drove the Passat V6 4Motion. Nice quick car...

No offense - But my uncle in Rusnak Audi gives me the following info:

A4 independent development chassis; A6 & Passat shares the same Chassis.

When I did a google search I found several sites which stated that the A4 / A6 / Passat all shared the same platform. I know the A4's supporting frame is shorter (unless that's what you mean by chassis) and that the A6 and Passat share that.

But in terms of parts like engines, transmissions, suspension components, they are similar or shared. Like the Passat's 2.8L V6 is the one that the A4 and A6 used up until a year or so ago. Similarly the 1.8T is shared between the Passat and A4.

That is, unless they're all wrong. In any case I really don't care anymore......
