That high pitch whine is normal with the BMW I6's. At the 10-12 second mark the warning light for Speed Limit Exceeded chimed. You can set a MPH/KPH mark in idrive so if you go past it the car will throw an alarm for you to slow down so you don't get a ticket.

BTW almost every manufacturer has an advanced form of VTEC that acura/honda is currently putting in it's cars. BMW calls it VANOS for example...

Isn't VANOS only in the higher-end models? Would a 323 or even a 335 have it?

No, VANOS has been around in nearly all the models since the 90's. I think just about every single model has the system, with the double VANOS being used in some of the higher performance engines.

The N54/55 engines don't have the VANOS system.

Forced induction doesnt need Double VANOS. This is why forced induction vtec cars usually get vtec killer cams.

VANOS KICKED IN YO! LOL.

To get rid of the limit just go to iDrive and untick it. I have it on at 60mph it helps sometimes but it gets annoying after awhile.

The N54 and N55 both have dual VANOS. The N54 doesn't have valvetronic which is the variable valve height system, but the N55 does.
