The way I see it, the elderly in general tend to understand their weaknesses (poor vision, slow reaction). Case in point - I haven't really had much experience with elderly drivers taking up two lanes or stop in the middle of the road for no reason. They are sloooow drivers, but they don't bother other people.

On the other hand, middle age women (especially Asian women) tend to do the dumbest things on the road. Before anyone throws a fit, I'm Asian too.

 

There should be an "All of the above" option...

no choice for mb/bmw drivers? i dunno, maybe i'm one of the few who has noticed that focus drivers drive like it's a ferrari. seriously though, mb drivers have to be the worst.

The most dangerous ones to me are aggressive young male drivers and anyone regardless of age talking on their cell phones. The latter pisses me off more than anything. I've pulled up to some idiots weaving in and out and screamed my head off at times. I also think the elderly should be required to retake their driving exams once they hit a certain age but that will never happen since they're such an influential and fast growing voting population. Ugh.

Without a doubt, it's middle-aged Asian women. I had one rear-end me going like 2 MPH, and I was watching her in the rearview when it happened. She didn't even flinch during impact.

I was in the old '86 Saab tank, with its trailer hitch sticking out the back, so it destroyed her license plate without damaging my car. Sometimes I miss driving a beater.

When I see middle-aged asian women in early 90s Accords, I keep my distance.

women in general aren't the best drivers. They tend to make dangerous lane changes even when they aren't on a cell phone!

 

I'd say in general females are worse drivers in terms of car control and judgement, etc; but males can be just as, or even more dangerous because of their tendancy to drive aggressivly. Old people are all equally bad I think. And yes middle aged or older asian women are arguable the worst drivers on the planet.

And since I have basically insulted every man woman and child in this thread I guess I can expect some neg reps

 

How about young to 30-something drivers in mini-vans. Drive me nuts.

anyone on a cellphone that isn't hands-free - was sideswiped by an asshole in a Jeep Cherokee who "drifted" into my lane without checking his blindspot. I jumped the curb, but he still crapped all the sheetmetal on that side of my car, then got out of his vehicle still talking on his @#$% cellphone, apologizing to the other person that he had to go because of the accident.

Watched another idiot driving his SUV with a cellpone in one hand while navigating some tight turns on a drive in the city that was sustaining a lot of intermittant black ice; lost it on a curve, spun out and around, jumped the curb and slammed up next to a tree. Last I saw, though, he was still holding his cellphone.

But really the worst drivers? Drunk ones. Worst drunk driver? the woman who founded Drinking in Moderation, a 12-step program for folks who can still drink but not have a "problem" if they handle it in moderation; ended up drinking a quart of Jim Beam one evening, got in her half-ton pickup, drove on the wrong side of a divided freeway at speeds over 70 mph (while being tracked by the state police) and crashed into a car driven by an elderly man with his granddaughter in the passenger seat. Both killed....... she is now practicing extreme moderation while not driving at all while she serves her jail time.

I almost had this happen to me, i was in a double left turn lane and this woman in a mercedes SUV does one look before the light changes, looks right and then just goes almost plowing into me (i was turning into the same place she was) at the same time.. all she did was turn into the next driveway and laughed to her friend on the phone "like omigod i sooo almost just hit somebody"

Argh.. i wanted to get out and smack the taste out of her mouth with that stupid cell phone.

Dont get me wrong, there are SOME people out there that have the ability to hold a cell phone and drive, but most people i see on the phone are 10-15 seconds behind reality. For example i almost got rear ended by this guy who was chatting away and the traffic in front of me suddenly slowed and i could see him in the rearview mirror, he had that "not quite looking at the road" gaze going and at the last minute i see him dive on the brakes, still yapping the whole time.

The statistics try to show that not that many accidents are caused by cell phone users but in reality, how many people really tell the cop "oh yeah i was chatting with cathy and BOOM"

The worst story i have ever heard though involves a stereo with a remote control, my co-workers aunt was killed in a head on collision with a teenager who dropped his remote and instead of using the controls on the stereo until he coudl safely retrieve it, he leans down and picks it up swerving in the process and boom.

Ugh freekin idiots.. Although you think our roads are bad? China is 100x worse. Their road and traffic monitoring / control / patroling is still in the 1920s

Actually I think China/Taiwan is much much much better at driving. They all have mad merging skills and actually understand that they don't own the road. You see people cut each other off all the time, but no one gets angry like here. While riding in a taxi is deathly frightening at first, its incredibly safe.

I want to change my vote to: any student on Temple's campus. In three weeks, I've seen two accidents at the exact same intersection. One of thumb was as dumb as it gets - one student hit another while in bumper-to-bumper traffic, then a minute later another one hits him. Clearly none of them were paying attention when driver #1 stopped short. All were young males, BTW.

so i'm a bit annoyed with all of the women who almost hit me. happens at least once a week. driving school bitches!! stupid ass escalade driving hoe bags. these rich california bitches are gonna kill me one of these days and probably wont even notice it.
