The C30 is a very intriguing offer ... It will be one trim, the T5, with 220hp.

But it will also probably be around $30k loaded

Nope, their using the T5 motor out of the current S40 T5 and C70....218hp.

Why is $30k loaded so surprising? A loaded GTI comes real close to that and its not very hard to option a Mini to $30k.

Up here in Canuckistan we get two engine choices:

- 168 hp 2.4i, starting at $27,495; (canadian prices of course)
- 218 hp turbocharged and intercooled T5, from $31,995. (CAD once again)

Three transmissions are available:

a five-speed manual in the 2.4i;

a five-speed automatic in both the 2.4i and T5;

a six-speed manual in the T5.

(from the paper)
Several packages and some stand-alone options will allow buyers to spec a C30 to their tastes and budgets, all the way into the mid-40s and beyond
