VIDEO: Nicholas Cage stunt driver crashes Ferrari in NYC, injures two
Last night around 1AM EST, a stunt driver for the new Cage movie The Sorceror's Apprentice lost control of the Ferrari he was driving and plowed prancing horse-first into a Sbarro's on the corner of 7th Avenue and 47th Street in Times Square. Eye witnesses say the Ferrari was being chased by a Mercedes while weaving through fake traffic in Times Square, but lost control after passing a car on the right. It then swerved left and jumped the curbed before taking out a lamppost (which landed on a guy), knocking a woman to the ground and destroying the front entrance of a Sbarro's. The street was closed to traffic for filming, but at least one of the injured was not associated with the movie. Based on the poem that inspired Disney's Fantasia, The Sorceror's Apprentice better make some serious box office coin to pay for the inevitable lawsuit that's on its way. Being a Nick Cage film, there's about as much chance of that happening as being hit by a Ferrari while walking in front of a Sbarro's in Times Square. Check out the amateur eye-witness video of the crash after the jump.

Being on a movie set, and being an extra most likely, I don't think he realized if that was supposed to have happened. I know I would probably have paused for a while too.

The person in white is really lucky, they just got bumped hard with the rear fender as the car was coming to a rest. If they had been another foot to the left they would have been hamburger helper.

The guy jumped under the lamp pole. It is clear at :39 and at ~1:30.
The people are not extras, they are normal peds. For some reason they didn't close the streets for this.

Great catch! I work in insurance and it is folks like you- and the video shooterr- who help us not pay those quick thinkers (MFukrs) for their fradulent claims!

Im still not convinced he ran under that pole .. its not that clear to me... there's room for interpretation.. imo insurance companies are always looking for a way out to pay.. but never collect.

I think the article quoted by the OP is a little dramatic. I'm not sure I would call that "destroying the front entrance of Sbarro's". Look like some shattered glass and minor cosmetic damage at most...
I wonder how many people thought that was part of the movie. I'm actually half wondering if it was part of the movie myself. No one seemed to react as if it was an accident...
